Not sure where the idiot light comes in as GM offers the dual-roof option for the ZR1 that includes the exposed carbon fiber roof as well as the transparent top. The solid tops on all C7s are carbon fiber, it's just that you have the option of an exposed or painted carbon fiber top with other models with the exposed carbon fiber top being standard on the ZR1.

Was just trying to make a funny... didn’t mean to be MEAN.. personally, I dont care for the “frying” effect a translucent top can have, and they are heavier. Some folks love them. Thats why they are offered. I get it.

I've used the glass top from the Z06 on my ZR with Zero issues, it's a different look. I'm in Florida and no frying, imagine how cooked you would be topless ;>

Deb, just me but I have never liked the effect of light coming in on my eyes through the glass from above.. if the top is off it seems different to me... and then what a glass top does to the inside temp of the car when parked in the sun...OMG.. the clearcoat carbon fiber top is so cool IMO. And it’s heavier.

Good point, one thing "I" like is the open feel with the lighting, others may not. Seems the C7 tops do not cook or weigh as much as the old heavy C5 one I had. The Carbon Fiber top definitely is COOL

Well that makes me feel much better, NOT 
I was just happy to go out and drive it this weekend, in between snow storms, and salt storms from the local townships, oh and child swallowing potholes, it was a relaxing 5 miles.

I like having a trans roof. I'm kinda big and I can see better with the trans top. Especially traffic lights.

2016 they made changes in the hardware. The General did is a solid and changed the color of the pegs.
My 16 Z06 came with a body color top only. I picked up a slightly used transparent top and love it. Gives a tad more headroom and is nice during the cooler part of the year,
Also, the top dropped right on no leaks. Nice change from the C4 tips that had to be adjusted.
