Default Just got my TPW

So about 3 weeks ago my dealer called me and said he had an allocation for a ZR1. I put my order in and today he calls me to tell me I have a TPW of 1/21/2019 and will probably get it in the middle of February. I went with a 3ZR ceramic gray, auto,ZTK,black mirrors, blue stitching, red seat belts and carbon flash black wheels. Just seems like it is going really quick compared to others on here. What do you guys think??

Sounds good to me... I am sold on the manual.. my ZTK coupe is Wat Gln Gray..I got blue stitching on black napa comp seats. Id have done blue belts if they were offered. If you getting red calipers? Then the red belts will tie. But the blue calipers tie to other blue accents on the ZR1 logos and the blue stiching. Then I’d reconsider getting the red belts. Too busy for my taste. But its all about what you like not me or others.

I would not do blue stitching and red seat belts. You should be able to change still I would sure try. Of corse it's your car but I believe it would clash big time. Change the calipers and stitching to red then do the belts anyway very nice car sure would get it right.

You're right, about 3 weeks ago GM started to announce TPW's for cars already ordered. I assume they resolved parts supply issues and caught up with their production schedules.

If the dealer had the allocation GM gives them a date it must be used or lost. I can only assume the allocation was ready to be filled and when the order was placed the allocation was matched and within a couple of weeks or sooner there you go a TPW event code 3000. It all depends on what month the allocation is for. So yes it is not to good to be true.

It seems to me that maybe someone canceled their order from your dealership for that allocation to miraculously appear so late in the game.
I've been waiting since March 1st on my order and youwere awfully lucky that you only had to wait 3 weeks for your TPW.

Wow, you did get that fast! That's great however it happened. Did you buy from a big Corvette dealer? I did recently and it seemed to be much quicker than the folks that bought from small dealers. I was given a TPW of 2/11/2019 from the chat line right after it went to 3000. So not too far behind you! Very EXCITING.

I have a buddy that is a GM rep. I told him I wanted a ZR1 and he called the district sales manager to see if there were any allocations coming out. He called me back and told me the GM was releasing 3 allocations in my district and told me the name of a dealer that was close to me. I called the dealer and they had no idea they were getting another allocation. I told them I wanted the car and I needed to do a courtesy trade because I sold my car myself and wanted to get my sales tax credit. He said no problem as long as he gets an allocation we are good to go. A week later he calls me to tell me he got another allocation and everything is good to go and he needed my order so he can put it in the computer system. I gave him the order and a little over a week I got a TPW. I feel bad for the guys that have been strung along from their dealers being told they had allocations when they really don't know if they are getting anymore or not. I own 2 used car lots and know the games dealers play and I think it is bullshit. As far as the colors and options I went with I did it for a reason.. I saw this exact ZR1 and fell in love with it. I know the red seat belts may seem over the top a little but man they look awesome. I never even thought about red seat belts until I got my TrackHawk and it was an option. Anyways thanks for all the feedback and to the ones that actually know what the hell they are talking about. Dealer said should be getting the car sometime in the middle of February. I told them to take their time because here in Pittsburgh I wont be driving it until April or May anyways..

Congratulations, that is very quick. Its amazing you could still find an allocation that late in the game. I had to get on a waiting list for an allocation. I put my $10,000 deposit down on Sept. 19, 2018 and I have a TPW of 12-10-2018. Torch red, M7, ZTK, 3ZR, red stitching, competition seats, red calipers, carbon flash painted wheels . Enjoy your ZR1 !!!

Can somebody explain to me what a "Courtesy trade is"?

The dealer trades your car in and immediately sells it to a new owner (supplied by you). Scheme to cheat on sales taxes, where you only pay tax on the difference between your trade in and the price of the new car.

Actually the cheat is all the taxing in the first place. We're just trying to keep from being robbed by our own government at every corner. Smart.

We don’t get the “credit” for trade-ins here in Michigan no matter how you do it. I have a bad habit of keeping cars anyway, but boy am I happy we don't have personal property tax here. Our plate costs are based on MSRP.. and we can legally transfer from one car to another. (May be changed).. transferring from my C3 to the ZR1 saves ~$800 a year. Helps a lot for cars I drive sporadically. Also helps to have an efficient local DMV...
