Will dealers swap ZR1s?
New board member and long time sports car nut considering a new toy and the ZR1 has made my short list. It's most definitely way too much car and money for me but so is everything else I'm looking at, soooo on to my situation. None of my local dealers have a 7 speed MT ZR1 in stock, but there is a dealer with a nicely optioned 3ZR with the automatic. Does anybody have any history of negotiating to buy a ZR1 on a different dealers lot and working a trade or am I just speaking nonsense? Prices are falling through the floor on these cars, I've seen a couple ADVERTISED at roughly 10% off MSRP and we're still another week from the C8 release so it's obvious dealers are motivated to move these vehicles.
So in a nutshell, can I locally negotiate a ZR1 that is on a different dealer's lot and get them to swap or would I be better off finding the car I want and negotiating with the dealer who has the car in their possession and then go and get it? This is more an inconvenience than a problem, I can fly out or pull a trailer to wherever the dealer is located but this situation leaves me vulnerable to potential BS dealer antics at the signing, and as a transplant I'd prefer to build a relationship with a local dealer. Now that I write it out it seems obvious but still hoping that somebody else has done this and I can save myself a potentially long trip.

I think you are climbing up the wrong tree. Dealers have no relation to each other and they themselves make money on the sale.
Also, while you may see ZR1s advertised for 10K under MSRP it's mostly to get you into the door. Every time you call them the answer is either (1) the corvette is "sold" or (2) carguru has no affiliation with us and we don't give them prices. That's been my experience.

Not neccesarily.
PM mike Furman. Explain what youre looking for and he wpuld be best equipped to point you in the right direction.
If a dealer in some small town has been sittong on one or god fobid got two in and cant move them they would deal.
They have to pay the finance charge (interest) i think after 30 days iirc. That's a bunch of cash out the window for nothing...
Youre usually better off going to a dealer dorectly but in this case there are specialists who would make moves for you. And know how to have it done.
Good luck.

Ok, you'll have to explain how 10% off MSRP on a car that usually sells for sticker is not "falling through the floor".
Personal insults towards a messenger that brings bad news (to an existing ZR1 owner, not so much for prospective buyers) says a lot more about the person leaving the insult than the one bearing the message.
Just to verify it wasn't some bait and switch web page BS, I called a dealer that I found via the Chevy web page and he has 2 ZR1s available with no-haggle internet pricing just a tad under 10% off, including the $3k customer loyalty. Not sure why the anger directed at me, I'm not setting the market for these cars just trying to get in on a good deal.

Hey Bud, That was not a personal insult but a fact. Prices are not falling through the floor, yes 10% would be great but still not falling through the floor IMO. Report back when you get one bought. Also the it's not 10% if it includes the GM 3K. No anger towards you until you got bent out of shape over nothing. Hope you get your ZR1.

Dealerships are free to sell their inventory for whatever price they choose for a variety of reasons. I think there have been a few Dealerships for several months that have advertised at discounts off of MSRP. I looked at a few and they had some "criteria" for the discounts (qualifying discount, have to use their lender, etc), and included the $3000 Loyalty Discount in addition. I think the issue with your statement of the "prices falling through the floor" is that it is not the rule, but some random exceptions.
I don't think many current ZR1 owners particularly care if there are discount, as most of us were unsure if our ZR1's would even be available as of July 2019, and 100% (maybe minus one or two owners) have raved about their purchase with little regret. If you are able to get a great deal, I for one am happy for you, and welcome you to Club ZedR1. Please share the details after you have made the deal...
Instinct tells me that ZR1 prices will hold steady once the current inventory is reduced to less than 100 available,as there are only a few on the way. If the C8 does not hit the Dealers showrooms in significant volume by Feb-March 2020...Dealers with ZR1's will most likely be charging over MSRP again. This is just my opinion.

I had 2 sources, 1 a dealer and the other a lady offering cash, to buy my ZR1 from under me from the dealer I got my car from. So it will amount to the dealer you are dealing with. 1st the dealer that ends-up making the sale will get GM credit for the sale. That in itself may not have an actual dollar value, but it helps them as a dealership. And ultimately any deal works as long as those involved get the profit they are expecting.

Fair enough. I also failed to appreciate the sensitivity current owners might have towards such a categorization. I was just excited that such a great car could be had for less than sticker.
Glad to hear the overall satisfaction, I've wanted a car like this for years and am finally in a financial position to get one. I still haven't decided on what car I want to buy but this is by far the fastest and most powerful of the group I'm considering. No idea what future pricing holds but your reasoning seems sound. In addition, the longer I wait the less options I'll have to choose from.

Prices are not falling through the floor. I got 10% off of sticker a year ago...mainly because the owner of the dealership is a friend and we've done a lot of transactions together. Values for this car will not follow the traditional curve for a myriad of reasons. Notice I'm not saying they will begin appreciating tomorrow. The C8 is/will be polarizing to some and the performance variants are likely years off. Traditionalists will opt for the ZR1 and if GM ***** up strategy like McLaren did, the C7 ZR1 could be all the more attractive. But, buy what you want and enjoy the hell out of it.
