Default Brake Pad Replacement

What are you guys doing for brake pad replacements? I do plan to track my car this year and plan to replace my pads and flush the brake fluid to a better Dot 4. The OEM replacements are pretty expensive it seems. Just curious on what options are out there and/or best vendor to purchase from.

Thanks Adam. Looks like there are a lot of different options. Will reach out to you later this month and see what the best selection is for street/track usage.

I went to Adams's web site and when I selected brake pads there's not even a listing for C7 ZR1s.

Adam posts everywhere on the CF. He may not know that his business doesn't stock pads for carbon brakes on '19 ZR1s.

The site does make reference to Adam's ability to custom make pads for any car so...Adam...how much to make a set of track pads for my '19 ZR1?

I have them my site is down at the moment I apologize we our building a new site. Yes, I have pads for the C7 ZR1 I know what I am talking about. So, what kind of tracking will you be doing and on what tire? Than I can give you your best option.

I replied to your PM.

Carbotech 1521 for street.

Front $302

Rear $206

The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non-corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

Adam, what is the best recommendation for slight track use and street for our CCB rotors? I'm running the sport cup 2 tires for track days and AS/3s for street driving right now. I'm in Columbus and will typically do 3 weekend events at Mid Ohio or 4 to 6 track day DE events.

Slight track I would suggest XP8 on all 4 corners Work's fine on the street and will perform on track If you are really going to get after it on track XP12 front XP10 rear. The XP8 is fine on street and easy on the rotors. With the CCB rotors we tend to see no noise with these pads. The XP8 is probably 2 step up from OE.. The temp range is great.

A high torque brake compound with a wide operating temperature range of 200°F-1250°F+ (93°C to 676°C+). Carbotech™ XP8™ is the first of our racing compounds. Good initial bite at race temperatures, high coefficient of friction, excellent modulation and release characteristics. Extremely high fade resistance and very rotor friendly. Perfect for track day use with any tire and can still be driven safely to and from the track. Carbotech™ does NOT recommended XP8™ as a daily driven street pad due to elevated levels of dust and noise. Carbotech™ XP8™ is a great compound on the front & rear of most open wheel and sports racers.

F: $339

R:: $223

Thanks Adam, I'll be reaching out to you. Does anyone know what the OEM pads pads are made by and why they are so expensive?

And this is what you recommend for replacing OE pads on cars with carbon brakes?

Yes, as long as you are not tracking the car. If you are tracking than Carbotech has some track pad options.
