Default What's the best aggressive sounding catback for C7 ZR1 with Corsa x-pipe?

So my Sebring Orange ZR1 has the Corsa rear cat delete X-pipe and the car sounds good but looking for more aggressive exhaust sound (without adding drone) to my ZR1 with A8 transmission.

Not looking to spend $2k for a catback system so what catback system gives the best aggressive bad *** sounding exhaust without drone which is reasonable priced?

I am especially interested in hearing from anyone also running the Corsa rear cat delete X-Pipe. Looking for that deep, very aggressive muscle car sound, (but I do not want to lessen the crackle and burbling I am currently getting on downshifts which I love).

Thanks in advance.

Hey Jimmy, I don't have first hand ZR1 experience with anything beyond OEM with an x-pipe and now my Akra... but I think you will have a hard time finding a catback for much less than $2,000 anymore. Sadly the days of sub $1,000 catbacks from our C5 days are looong gone. I remember paying like $450 SHIPPED for by Borla Stinger brand new back in 2003! lol The only other exhaust I'd consider besides the Akra through is the Corsa Extreme with NPP. You know being Corsa it is made well and doesn't drone, plus the NPP will be nice for those long 8th gear highway cruises. The Corsa is like $2,300 though.

Prior to a year ago, I'd have recommended Corsa or Borla. But after having the Akrapovic, I'd suggest going that route if you can. Good luck and enjoy!

I was in the WTH $$$ until I was forced to run side by side with a Friend in our Z's . His had Akra. Mine well------The second I got the ZR I made plans for the Akra! Looks, sound, weight savings, performance etc. It will amp up what you like about the ZR

Headers…. That’s the answer. You’re not going to get anything out of changing a axle back to a cat back really. Doing headers and keeping your axle back is a better direction IMO. It does require a tune though so it turns into 5k real quick.

Oh what the hell you may as well do a cam while doing the headers.. Once you hear the sound of the headers and cam you will want it. I absolutely love the way mine sounds now that it is all done. Don't worry we all here will help you spend your money.. Ha ha

My buddy has long tubes with akrapovic exhaust and it sounds so awesome. Can’t even hear my car run following him on the highway. It really doesn’t get any better than that.

I'll co-sign with those recommending headers. Get yourself a nice set of ARH or Kooks headers and that exhaust will wake up drastically. No aftermarket exhaust does as well as the stock cans with NPP in terms of eliminating drone, and the ability to really tone down the car if desired with NPP.
Akra is only exhaust which can compete in both of those regards. But given your posted budget you'd get more from headers, performance wise than just a subjective 'sounds change of swapping axle backs.

Also, is anyone here running the Akra. or Corsa Extremes with the Corsa rear cat delete X-pipe? If yes anyone have a sound clip of that set-up?

Message me for pricing on the Akra axle back, no more catbacks from Akra USA due to the EPA craziness.

I had a Corsa midpipe with Akra rear on my stingray.

How much is the Akra for the ZR1? Isn't it like 5K or something? That is header and tune money.

More than that for the full kit. Not sure about the cat backs.

Take a watch & listen to this launch video of my ZR1 with ARH Catted Headers, Corsa X-pipe, and Akra exhaust on the way to the 200mph club. It has NOT been tuned.

And listen to Deb-Red and the other Akra users. The Akra system is worth every penny.

BTW Josh gave me a real good deal on it. He beat every one else's price by more than just a couple of bucks.
