For those on the fence, can’t recommend Alan highly enough. He’s been able to make things happen for me I’m sure no other dealer could! I’m even buying from California.

I sent them an email but am not holding my breath. I think tomorrow that I'm going to order a 2021 from Rick Hendrick Chevrolet in Charlotte unless Alan comes through.

This is the reply I got. Not sure what any of it means, but I assume they can't guarantee that I would get a 2020 if I plopped down my $2K
Alan

Gm hasn't given the dealers the est allocation for the next 6 months and how many will be 2020's vs 2021 models. We hope to have it this month sometime. We're 370's right now for orders waiting and we should place mid 170's tomorrow. That should leave us around 200 after this week. So if next month happens to be the last month of ordering then we might be short unless we get over 200 allocations. So I would lean towards an early 2021 but there's still a chance of a late 2020 through us. So depending on how many customers are in front of you and what they're going to get should dictate who can get your order the fastest. Hopefully everyone gets that info soon. That's the best info I can give you at this time.

What don't you understand? Pretty clear cut and what most dealers will tell you sans different figures depending on their allocations. He can't guarantee a 2020, no more than anyone else . I can tell you Alan got a lot of extra ZR1 allocations. Your deposit is refundable.

Alan, as you know I am #179 on your list, assuming no one has refunded their orders before me. Any idea where my place in line puts me ball park? Not in a hurry, just more for planning purposes, since I have a car I will need to sell first. Thank you!

Hate to be Debbie Downer but expect a planned shutdown of the plant very soon. It's almost a given at this point in time.

We're still waiting for our re-allocated number from GM. Definitely can't guarantee a 20 as I'd tell you right now that it will certainly be a 21 unless something major changes at this point.

Sorry to be tardy with the responses. We got 36 orders to place last week and with some of the turmoil in the financial markets, some people have deferred orders and I've been scrambling a bit to re-prioritize. That and we have seen several deliveries at this point.

My understanding from Hendricks, that the 2020 C8 program is closed as of 2 days ago and only available to order 2021 shortly.

what happens if someone wanted a 2020, and it gets pushed back to a 2021 is the deposit refunadable as deposit form states 2020 model year?

Based upon some of the enhancements and improvements from the 2020 MY, on the face of it I would be okay with a 2021. But the $64,000 question is how much more is a 2021 going to be? Not only would the price of a base model go up, but what about the price for a convertible? 3LT package? Z51 package? Other options? Are all of them increasing as well? A well-optioned 2020 convertible with Z51 package that is, say, $85K now, could easily push past $90K. That is definitely a consideration for me.

exactly!!!! Im guessing if your orders at 1100 the chance of your 2020 being built is 0? Would the dealer contact you, or just roll it to a 21 and build? Hoping op can answer

My dealer already told me I would be offered a 2021. As for the dealer contacting me, I doubt I will hear from them contacting me for a long time. I'm probably going to sit at 1100 for quite some time, so I can't think of any reason why the dealer would contact me until allocations start moving again. When the time comes that GM goes back into full production and allocations start to move, then we'll see. But back to your question about a 2021, I am more concerned about the price increases and how much more it will cost vs. what I was expecting to pay for a 2020 and put a deposit down. It would be nice if GM said, "Hey, those of you who put deposits down for a 2020, we can't give you a 2020, but we'll give you a 2021 at the same MSRP as a 2020". And if you believe that, I have oceanfront property in Arizona to sell you. Plus dealers were careful not to put anything legally binding to guarantee us a 2020. So with that in mind, however much more a 2021 C8 will cost for base, trim levels, and options, it'll be a take it or leave it situation. You don't like the price increase and it's a deal breaker? Fine, there's still plenty of people in line behind you glad to move up.
