2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray Devoured By Fire!

Clearly a joke and some one is biting. Eray doesn't use the base rims. There hasn't been one filmed with 19/20" even when covered up.

The publication is not treating it as a joke.
If it is, a joke someone is in a whole lot of trouble.
If not some one is in a whole lot of angst
either way really off the chart news

Whatever it is, this is interesting to see in the front half of the car…

Remember that cargo ship that sunk w Bentleys and Porsches…. Fire started by an EV on board that could not be put out. TOTAL LOSS…..
You couldn’t give me an EV, I value my home and possessions waaaay more than trying to be cool, and wit it in todays upside down world. 😤

Yep probably courtesy of Exxon. However, if it wasn't fake I might see it as good news. The implication is the evil lithium battery started it and cannot be put out. But with this level of destruction it would lend credence to them making it a PHEV with a decent size battery. Sign me up.

Interesting that the rim looks like it held up well considering what the rest of whatever it is looks like. Almost looks like someone threw a bent wheel in after the fact. Also, those exhaust pipes, assuming that is the exhaust, don't look like a base c8 or eray exhaust. Course that could be a photo from the middle but I think I see mufflers tho.

Article says this was one of 2 in the hands of Bosch. Definitely possible it was a base testing certain specific components. Interesting that the article mentions a significant amount of oil loss prior to the fire. If a oil fire wonder what failed in the ICM part of the car?

Sure. EVERY E-Ray mule we've seen is a wide body, (When was the last time we've seen an image of a camo'd narrow body?) But the one and only narrow body E-Ray is the one that caught fire. Highly likely. /s

I remember reading 2 years ago @ the fire that destroyed the Hilton Head Island home of the golfer Davis Love III. That fire started in the garage? Is it a coincidence that he was one of the first in the country to take delivery of one of those brand new high-end EV sedans the day before? . . . ???
Electric Vehicles Catch Fire Considerably Less Than Gas CarsAs reported by KBB, AutoInsuranceEZ conducted a study on car fires. The AutoInsuranceEZ researchers “examined data from the National Transportation Safety Board and compared it to sales data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics.” Based on the study, electric vehicles catch fire much less frequently than gas-powered cars. However, hybrid vehicles have the most frequent number of fires.
Here are the detailed results of the car fire study:
- Electric vehicles: 25 fires per 100,000 sold
- Gas-powered cars: 1,530 fires per 100,000 sold
- Hybrid cars: 3,475 fires per 100,000 sold
