Default 2nd HPTuners C8 Completed

Wondering how it’s going with our HP Tuner C8 Corvette tunes? Let’s get into it!

We are thrilled to recognize Calvin Burrichter as a returning C700 C8 Corvette customer who has taken his passion for racing to new heights. During the first round of modifications Calvin linked up with us to supply him a twin turbo road race ready C8 Corvette. This was well over a year ago so at that time we didn’t have the capability to tune the factory ECU. That didn’t stop us however from figuring out how to safely turbo his car for road race use combined with a laundry list of “Go Turn Stop” goodies which I will list below.

Calvin’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of performance was only superseded by our commitment to delivering excellence through his journey.

Calvin has been a long time customer of ours through several different cars and over the course of many years. So as soon as we heard from HP Tuners about their upcoming abilities we immediately reached out knowing that we could achieve a good amount more wheel horsepower while controlling road course drivability and largely advantageous aspects such as power pulls based on inlet air temp.

Calvin’s commitment to refining his driving skills and nurturing his connection with his Corvette has been inspiring as with all of the other vehicles we have serviced for him. Cicio and him have gone to countless track outings together over the years, always with Cicio in the right seat speaking turn by turn wisdom through his headset.Together, we have unlocked new dimensions of his driving and now it is time to “unlock” some new power in his Corvette!!

With a couple little track updates out of the way, we strapped the car to the dyno. As many of you know we made a touch over 720hp during our tuning session on the previous C700. While there was a slight bit of what I will call “disbelief”, we were and are excited to continue to backup these types of numbers. Calvin’s car was our second C700 tuning canvas to paint and we were excited for results. This particular C8 is a 2020 model while the first one was a 22. We didn’t know if any differences but we were still excited to explore…

Just a few pulls in and our in house tuner Taylor had pretty much concluded that similar results were going to be achievable.

The shop was HOT 91 degrees with over 50% humidity during this mid summer session not making his job any easier.

With tweaks to commanded fueling, timing, boost and then some additional little cam timing adjustments the session ended with us keeping the tune “road race conservative” producing 702 wheel HP on our Dynojet. Worth noting that this number was on a very conservative tune. We easily could have pushed the car to make a “number” for the interweb but that is not how this car is gonna get run due to being road raced. So we would rather publish actual numbers for the client rather than anything inflated. Street cars are perfectly safe pushing further than this but this car is gonna get punished lol!

Calvin was shocked by the evolution! Cicio received a text message from him starting out by congratulating us on the new Florida location quickly follow by “I was NOT expecting that much power”

Neither of these guys can wait to get this car back out on track to see just how the new drivability and power improvements translate to lap times.

This publication is a dual spotlight;

First and foremost to recognize and thank Calvin who has been a client of ours for the better part of a decade: THANK YOU Calvin for your consistent support, unwavering trust and continued friendship!

Secondly, it is to highlight the consistency of our calibrated twin turbo C8s utilizing HP Tuners Global B support!

Don’t think for a second that we are stopping here, we have an army of C8s in line and will be producing results consistently to share with our customers and all of you.

Let’s explore what we did for Calvin;

Impressive results once again. I see a hydraulic actuator on that wing, does it have capability to act as an air brake?

Also, what is your projected timeline for any tuned NA cars to be ready for testing? Preferably one with a cam and some headwork.

The Victor Racing wing is fully functional and definitely helps with managing downforce!

We hope to have NA results soon! Right now we only have Turbo C8's to report on. When the NA results are available, we will post them!

This probably my favorite modded C8 I've seen so far. Not overly done with the mods and they are purposefully installed. Great work!

So what parameters can be adjusted with HPT? Can you raise the rev limit in M mode? torque management? AFM removal?

Yes to all of that and more! It gives capable calibrators lots of tools for sure!

Wait, what....? You can raise the rev limit as of now? Without access to the TCU?

Correct! We are testing TCU tuning next week and can give more details about what that entails.

Being able to raise the rev limit and also the shift points is going to be huuuuuuge for the NA builds. Ported heads and cam cars will be able to pull strong all the way to the upper 6000s. Stock displacement should be able to flirt with 600hp and still be streetable.

If only we could hide this mod from the State of Calif, when it came to "smog test" time....
