Default C8 2020-2021 and beyond...been selling them since the C3

~The Generation numbers didn't start until the C5 (as I remember) but I know I started selling Corvettes three weeks before my 18th birthday which would be mid 1978 and the C3 gen. When I look back at the Gen numbers 3,4,5,6,7...8?...it seems a lot longer because time has literally flown.
Sometime in the next year I will have sold my 4,000th Corvette. My educated guess is the C8 will come out in the 2020-2021 time frame.
Will a 4 door sedan version or small SUV come under the Corvette brand?...that's a rumor that has been long going around. I can remember discussing the mid engine Corvette with Zora Arkus Duntov all thru the mid 80's at the Konner Corvette Show each June...to think we are this close yet he has been gone 21 years now. Stay tuned...

Thanks for the thread Mike. I think the C8 timeline you suggest is spot on!
Personally, I'd like to see Corvette come out with a SUV. Hope your 4000th sale comes soon.

Mike, you're covering up the rear window. Is that a 63 split window?

You can always tell a 1967 because it has the reverse lights just above the rear license plate. The Only C2 to have that. I started out seeking a 63 S/W and when this 67 Corvette became available I couldn't resist.

Mike, do you believe the C8 will be a rear mid engine car only? That is, do you also think they will concurrently produce a front engine variant of the C8? There is much debate. I think the former.

The mid engine car will be a Halo car and I would guess less then a 1,000 will be built per year. The front engine car as a C7 will probably be built thru 2020.

I'm sorry but I would hate to see a sedan or SUV "Corvette". Considering the original meaning of the name, a small rated warship, it seems like a terrible idea. As nice as it would be to have dedicated Corvette dealers, I can't imagine GM spinning Corvette off into a separate brand.

Thanks for the guesstamate on a date for the C8 Mike. The wife, and I were pondering the same question a couple days ago.

And I would hope GM wouldn't bastardize the Corvette line with an SUV, or a sedan. Of course I quite sure GM will not call for my opinion.

What is your guesstimate for a C8 "Z06" model? 2022-2023?

Rumors, rumors, rumors, but...Rumor I heard was a build date of January 2018 for the 2019 C8. BG is closing from mid-June 2017 thru 3rd and/or 4th quarters (nothing firm). Yes, they are finishing the paint shop, but the shutdown seems like a long time to goose a 2017 C7 into a 2018 C7. More like birthing a 2019 C8.
Again, just rumors, but...

You are correct...which leads me to copy and paste this quote seen often on this Forum...

“Those who actually know aren't talking, and those who are talking don't actually know.”
