Default What's under the ZR1 hood?

We all know that there will be a C7 ZR1. What we don't know is what will be under that huge domed hood that we have seen so often in spy shots.
Rumor has it that it will be a 750 HP V8. However will it be the LT5 Dual Overhead Cam normally aspirated V8 or a larger Supercharged version of the existing Z06 LT4?
Seeing that you can already get a Callaway 757 Z06 I think it would make more marketing sense to have the ZR1 come with the Dual Overhead Cam 32 valve V8. What are your guesses?

I'd say a bigger blower on the LT4, probably something along the lines of the Whipple 2.9. Just can't see Chevy introducing another new motor for the C7

2.3L blower on a 6.0L 32-V DOHC motor. Motor is LT5, blown variant is L88.

If that is the engine look for the price to be 150,000.
I think more Lt4 with a 2300 blower.

It's the LT4 with the Eaton 2.65 L Supercharger with larger Titanium exhaust system, more forged internals and strengthened driveline. And I forgot 800hp

It might be the Mercury Racing 750 horsepower, 8,000 rpm SB4 7.0 motor....

it has to be at least 100HP > than the current Z06. There's no other way. Mark my words.

6.2 L pushrod V8 w/ a 2.7 L Eaton Supercharger and anywhere from 725-750 hp. Someone can come quote this when the car is announced

Stock C7 engine compartment isn't wide enough for a DOHC V8 engine.

I agree. DOHC is for Cadillacs and whatever the mid-engine may be.

Why is this thread even IN the C8 Forum?
The ZR1 is a C7, not a C8.

Certainly not an OHC V8. R&D, tooling, etc. costs would not justify it unless (like the LT1 where DI and AFM were quite expensive to develop) the same basic engine could be used in big SUVs, pickups, and Camaros...which I doubt.

Guess #1: The C7 ZR1 we see in spy shots has a supercharged LT1 derivative (like LT4) perhaps with a higher capacity blower, more effective intercooler (thus bulge) and other tweaks for more power.

Guess #2: The next big engine development investment affecting Corvette will be heavily influenced by CAFE, and will probably be for a dual-turbocharged OHC V6 for the C8 (see C8 Birth thread).

I think the new motor for the ZR1 is a Gen VI pushrod, supercharged - 775HP
