This is a great read for all manual trans lovers:
https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-cul...amazing-story/

The thoughts that come to my mind are that the McLaren F1 can still challenge any supercar/hypercar in any contest by simply using modern tire technology. That's all with gears from a 5 series BMW. The DCT is already being replaced by a new generation torque converter transmission and it was never competitive in racing against the sequential. The manual lives today, won more LeMans and F1 titles than all of them, and it's a hoot to drive.

Long live the stick! The only trans that you could race on weekends and drive to work on Monday.

Which doesn't account for my ability to drive my DCT equipped Boxster 2 hours to Indie Motorsport Ranch https://www.indemotorsports.com/, drive hard all day and drive the 2 hours home.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

DCT does have that, it can be driven, or rather it can drive you around. You're just not going to win in any pro race series with it!

Sure glad I didn't buy it to race in any pro series.

Default Just hope it's not the CURRENT A8

I've had a deposit on my C8 since November. Whatever it is, I know it has had lots of test miles, and it will be the best thing Tadge and the team can produce. I currently have the M7 trans, but I'm in!

Given the production quantities currently sold, I would be really surprised if the C8 doesn't come with a manual option. This would be like getting a kick in the nuts. I love the renderings but really don't have any interest in an automatic sports car.

I love my manual, but if the corvette had a proper European DCT I would be ok with getting the corvette in a auto. I dont like the current A8

There will be a year one ME with a DCT for you, me and the rest. I too love my manual (53rd in a row), but would also be okay with a DCT.

Now if there were ever a mandatory move to an all electric Corvette (several years from now at the very earliest), we would buy an extra of last of the V8 Corvettes as a spare (put it into a “hermetic atmosphere bubble” until needed).

I have a C7 with M7 transmission and plan on keeping it forever, as I like to manually shift the gears, and I think as time passes on, manual transmission cars will be fewer and fewer. But I also hope to get a Porsche Turbo S or a C8 in the next year or two and those cars will have the PDK or some type of dual clutch system, so I'll have the best of both worlds.

My wife thinks I'm nuts.

If you are a “happy nut,” as you can afford multiple toys, keep smiling and driving.
