I have a funny feeling that the base C8 engine will be a V6

I can't see a V6. As previously said, The Ford GT was an all marketing move.
The price on this car will go up, though I highly suspect they are targeting a price target around the Grand Sport's current market. It would be a hard sell to have the car lose two cylinders in the process.

Dunno, would not be surprised to see the entry level C8 come w/ a Twin Turbo V6 @500HP. Especially if offered @ the current 1LT C7 price point.
Like the Camaro, the C8 could have a variety of engine options available including V8's depending on what a customer wants to spend.
Only time will tell. It wasn't but a few months ago, there was a large constituency thinking the Corvette will never be a mid-engine car. Apparently that is proving to be incorrect.

6.5 liter LT1 derivative more likely so the standard c8 v8 makes 500 hp.
No v6 for corvette
No v6 for corvette

With fuel economy standards, carbon emissions, and the other considerations, many car manufacturers are building smaller and still more powerful motors to meet the performance demands of the consumer.

As to who knew what when... Many of us have known about the upcoming 2020 ME Corvette for a long time. Some media posted about a 2019 ME Corvette during 2016. However, many here realized and posted that that was a year too early — as were the many posts that it was going to be revealed at this past January’s NAIAS show.
GM has been testing the 2020 ME Corvette in plain sight as far back at 15 months ago. I started a thread about the 2020 ME Corvette, including in that thread the below picture on January 7, 2017 (posted on the other leading Corvette forum).
Again, no media, no one is talking about a six cyclinder Corvette other than this crazy thread (at least not since one 2010 Motor Authority article) It was not even mentioned in the IHS Markit 2016-2024 Engine Forecast for the Corvette for that entire 8 year span.
There could be tens or even hundreds more posting on this thread about the upcoming six cyclinder Corvette, but a greater chance than that, is that the 2020 ME Corvette will be solar powered.

Agreed. There will be NO six....it would be marketing suicide at this point. There may be a time when the eight gets too "dirty", but that might be solved by other means.
My advice to JackieChiles is to lease a '19 for 2 years, then jump into the ME when the all the bs dies down.
Also, regarding the body / camo debate, I find it hard to believe Chebby would use foam extenders under the cover because 1) they haven't done much of that in the past and 2) it could mess with testing (wind noise, aero, cooling, etc). Furthermore, the dealer who tweeted the sneak peak said it looks like a Lotus, which to me, means [unfort] the nose is long and prob uglier than we'd like. It could be necessary to house all the heat exchangers. The truth about this car is it will kick major a$$ and the form may not be Ferrari sleek. Obviously, I hope it the most beautiful Vette yet, but I have some reservations given the low price point. But if it performs like an Italian, does it really matter?

V8 with 10-speed article from SAE mag
I just got the latest SAE mailing....great article about the V8. It is the one being introduced on a Cadillac being built at BG, so it is suggested Corvette will get it soon after. What is cool about the engine is there are no headers outboard....the gases are directed inboard on the top of the engine directly into a pair of cats...I say good luck with the heat dissipation! The 10-speed trans developed with Ford is also expected to mate up...makes sense to me. If you want to read the whole article I can take some pics and post it here...to hell with copyrights.

Thanks Chicago1, for providing one more reality to this nail in the coffin of this thread, yet forever reason, certainly not logic or facts, this thing continues.
