Since it is a transmission that is already on the shelf, it makes since the base car would have it for cost reasons alone.
A DCT might be for upper-end models.
Just a thought...

I'll be surprised if we see either of those in this rig. They'd have to re-engineer a new configuration of them to work the current versions on the shelf won't work. And the CAD drawing sure seems to indicate DCT. Maybe they'd do both, but my guess is they'll just do the DCT.

Yes, this is how more or less all DCTs are laid out for midengine cars, even Porsche does this for their 911s (although in that case the transmission is forward of the engine and differential). The thing is the GM slush boxes are not designed this way, meaning they would have to totally re-engineer a new auto transmission to fit the car when Tremec already has a modular DCT design for just about any orientation you could imagine (transverse, longitudinal, FWD, RWD, etc.). And apart from that, the transmission in the CADs look exactly like a typical DCT and in the video it sounds just like a DCT. But until January most of us don’t know a thing

I wasn't taking into account the CAD that was leaked.
GM has always went with practicality and cost considerations regarding their high-performance vehicles.

That’s a V6! Sounds only slightly better than a UPS truck.

Also, the frequency of shifts indicates it likely has 8+ gears, which the DCT wouldn't.
Well I would not be surprised considering it's the base model. Maybe the DCT is reserved for the higher end engines. Almost the same situation of the 6 speed auto transmission on the 2014 C7.

You could definitely take 99% of the Zerv stuff too the bank.

I don’t know if he means DCT transmission, only made by Tremec.
Or,is the DCT the only transmission available for the model.
Hard to imagine no manual, but not a dealbreaker for me.

I wonder about the “market analysis “ leak, about the
Y1 and Y2 models.

My feeling is both are mid engin platforms, with one being the hard top convertible.

The fact that both Y1 and Y2 offer different engines,
tells me that one of the engines must not fit in the convertible.

Maybe the market analysis leak was just an early was an early assumption and there’s no truth to it altogether .

I do believe all the Zerv stuff ,
the CAD’s are there .

I think he meant “DCT Only, made by TREMEC.”

From what I understand, the market analysis was just some educated predictions.

To me it sounds like a V6 with a 7sp or up DCT.

But i'm not an audiophile on car exhaust notes.

Sounds like a V8 and that's a DCT for sure. Go big or go home, this car will be a game changer for all.

Yep... the car sounds great. Not all that different from a GS really but it's so hard to really tell in a video. Clearly an auto and likely a DCT.

To me it sounds too revved up for the level of acceleration.

Maybe with all the new found traction they finally geared it correctly?

Since we are talking about zerv leaks, let’s not forget the last thing he said in his last post:

“Current ZL-1 10 speed is potentially being evaluated for trans-axle re-config”

Little bit off topic but after watching the video I wonder how they legally get away with driving on public roads with the tail lights covered. I could barely see the brake lights and the turn signals were hard to see from right behind the car.

I forgot about that. However, The LT1 leaks clearly show a DCT. The 10-speed is far too big
