Compare it to a Grand Sport. Road & Track (I think ?) did a couple years ago, and the Grand Sport was just as fast around VIR as a 911 GT3, and handled BETTER.

The new Cayman is better! But, point taken and amazing what a Fat Butt Corvette can do! If it matches some of those kinds of Porsche metrics it will really be better!
Simply though much of the stuff on that Porsche matches up rather well for comparison sakes!

so... the 718 is basically a boxter...right?
if thats the case... I'm a perfect example....of a buyer... had 2 x yardos one udr ... pantera gt5s full modded, few vettes, 360 Modena, ...911 turbo...
there is no way in hell that a boxter (cayman..whatever you want to call it) will compete with a fast Vette...(unless your talking about the buyers that are buying on payments).... from what the news seems to be... I see the buyers as 911 turbo owners that will want something cheaper... and same aspects..
but my god..if the Vette is on any, I mean any comparison to a boxter (cayman)... it already has lost its advantage...and will fail..

Porsche currently makes a higher quality car than the Corvette. But for several reasons, mainly higher out-the-door-price optioned the way I would want; looks that don’t inspire passion in me; and, a clear power disadvantage compared to the Corvette, I am just not personally interested.
I have friends who have Porsches, and good for them. They love their cars. Just no Porsche for me — not even close.

you're completely right... by post was just as a matter of perspective... which is reality.... and the previous poster.. gave stats where the boxter (cayman) was faster at the dry lake than the c7...
I can say, as a marketing rep... if the c8 is on par with the caymen...it will not succeed... unless it goes AWD... and can take the 1/4 mile crowd...
will go right to a 911 turbo s w pdk. ... if thats the case...

I would never buy a 4 cylinder Porsche for $95k, especially when the alternative is a v8 vette.
Germany is building the cars that is allowed to, America is building the cars it wants to. Let that sink in. The most desirable Porsche is an NA GT3 manual. They have to make it in limited production for cafe standards. Don’t buy a mid engine Subaru, buy a corvette.

Corvette competes with the 911 not the 4 cylinder 718. The 4 is not selling that well compared to the 6. I have owned many Porsche’s last one being a 2015 Cayman GTS with a six. Driven the 718 cayman S GTS and Box and the 4 Turbo is boring. It’s faster but I would not spend my money on that car compared to the previous generation. If you are comparing a 2018 GT3 I take the Porsche. 718 not in same league.

We can talk about how I took Mostly a bunch of random redundant wordy stuff and directed it at a Benchmark.
It's certainly a GM Benchmark!
(And You can explain your dumb Nurburgring, and your dumb ZR1 Wing. Rocket Scientist!)

I think the new 6 cylinder NA GTS Boxster is going to be a great car.
They still have some issues, very tall gearing and priced about $20K too high imo.
But it might be the only ME option for us manual driver's. we'll see.

Wait a couple of years and you can get an all-new Lotus Evora or Exiege with a manual for a lot less than you’d pay for that Porsche. Geely owns Lotus now, so I expect Lotus’ quality to improve. Their next generation cars will be lighter, more powerful, and more daily-drivable than before.

If any of the ME versions get compared to a Cayman (and it's not a "ME blows the doors off the Cayman/Boxter/718/etc in all aspects") then Chevy has made a HUGE mistake.
