What is your threshold on cost?

I'm predicting the ME will base in the $80k - $90k range and head uphill to well over $180k. GM cannot release this vehicle without all of the added technological wonders that other similar cars have and make it any less costly. If one actually believes all the people that suggest Tadge said that one could afford an entry level ME if they could afford a moderately optioned Grand Sport you will see that base price. As for me, money is not a factor! This is monumental in American Automobile manufacturing! This is not a halo car but a production car, albeit, modest production. It screams "own me!"

I would look elsewhere if it is over 200k.

FWIW.
$150K is about my price threshold.
Yet based on the ZR1 I know a "fully loaded" C8 will be in
above that range by 5% +.
$60K base coupe is my "hope"
$100K 3LT ZO6 may not happen and be nearer $115K
That is above my threshold adding that Calif registration
and sales tax will make that car expensive...at least for
me. Wasn't the Carbon Edition $120K?
In closing GM, I desire a C8 Vert, 3LT Z51 for $80K.

2004 C5 MSRP 43,8K / 2005 c6 Base 44K Fact
2010 GS MSRP 55,720K / 2019 Base Stingray MSRP 56,590K Fact
2019 GS MSRP 66,500K / 20XX Mid Engine 67K starting
Not sure where the 125K starting price comes from, but I have not seen anything that indicates a starting price this high. Speculation, Rumors, Unicorns... The past is a good indication of the future.

With the C7 ZR1, I saw on the sticker, a +28% Market Adjustment. You know what? A MMJ pharm owner came in, with cash in bag, and paid the $170k asking price (+tax, title). So, if we're thinking the C8 starts at (est) $70k for the 2019, dealers will add that extra 28% ($20k) market adjustment and people will buy it. My plan is waiting on the 2021.

I know it sounds harsh, but any person on here 'projecting' a STARTING PRICE north of $100k has no clue about GM's market. The car will likely start at $65-$70k and go up from there...I could see the top of the range at $150k++ in a few years, but not the base model. Come on guys...common sense. GM is the business to sell cars...
Base $65-$75K: 500-550hp. Likely 500hp.
Z06: $85-$115 (range w/options). Likely 750hp
ZR1/Zora: $150k to $180k (range). Likely 850-900hp.
I personally think GM is gonna shake up the car industry with the C8. They already do so well at their price point with a front engine...and I don't think the C8 is gonna be 'thrown' together...I think they are gonna do it 'right.' BUT, still expect a mediocre interior with regard to material use, like plastic etc.

I'm guessing the price of the ME C8 will vary just like the Porsche 911. Porsche 911 ranges from $80k-$190k depending on which performance model you select (base carrera to turbo s). I would assume the ME C8 will be about $20k less in price than the Porsche 911 depending on which level of performance (base C8 to high end C8). So roughly $60k-$170k for the ME C8?

Two good articles below. One section which I copied from the article below could suggest the new C8 ME is not going to have a starting MSRP over 100k. I still think it could be around 68 to 75k
? Ask to Tadge Juechter
Why do you think Corvette has been able to stay around for so long when the rest of the domestic auto industry has struggled?
TJ: It’s staying true to the mission of the car. Corvette has had its moments where it almost died. I don’t want it to seem like we’ve had a free ride the whole way. But if you look at other vehicles that are the successful long-term, they tend to stay true to their mission. They don’t try to wander off and be something they’re not. There are plenty of examples where cars tried to get bigger, or go from four passengers to two, or tried to migrate upmarket. They get cocky and think, “Wow, we could sell these things at a much higher price — let’s do an upscale version.” That doesn’t work. You have to stay true to what you are.
We could say going to an ME is a major change but its been talked about for over 30+ years. Is moving to an ME staying true to the brand well that is up for debate.
Two good reads 1st Tadge Juechter, Corvette's chief engineer about corvette and 2nd him talking about the C7 Race Car development alongside Z06

No ceiling here. More concerned about the base price. Actually prefer a higher base price if GM can put more quality and dealer experience into the car. The Corvette's main competition is the Porsche 911 and that starts at a ridiculously high base price of $90K. A Corvette is not supposed to be affordable to everyone. It's a high-end luxury item so a price of $75-$150K seems good to me. And if they want to create an uber Corvette that competes with anything out there and charge $200-$300K and build only 300-400 units/year I'd be very happy about that too! If GM announces a very limited uber Corvette for a 2-3 year run, they will sell out every single one just like the Ford GT, certain Porsche's, etc.
