As much as I would love to see a C8 in 2020, the biggest issue with any theories supporting that is that Corvettes have always had extremely long runs for each generation:
C4 - 1984 - 1996 (13 years)
C5 - 1997 - 2004 (8 years)
C6 - 2005 - 2013 (9 years)
C7 - 2014 to 2020 (let's just say 7 years)
That would make the C8 at minimum a 2021 model year.
