If it's coming this early is makes me think it's a halo car and not the entire C8 lineup. Boo.

skank, I'm still of the opinion the ME Zora will not be a C8 regardless of how many times I've hear it referred to as such or the recent emergence of what is being labeled as C8.R. My current belief is that after the C7 retires we'll see another FE car labeled C8 with with rumbling OHV V8 to satisfy a demographic that will; "A" not have the means to purchase Zora or "B" for Corvette owners that don't want ME car for their personal tastes/reasons/needs. I can see a case where GM would wish to finally transition the Corvette to Mid Engine however I see costs of technology fundamental to ME design that most expect in the Zora to increase MSRP past demographic purchasing Stingrays, Grand Sports and some ZO6 buyers. In this thread you refer to ME as the Zora, in your opinion do you think the ME Zora will be the C8?

Edit: was typing this while it seems you were answering my question.

Haha, you and me brother! I’ll take a stab at it.
1) Will something be revealed before September 15th?
2) Will we end up with 2 different models?
3) C7 platform gets optional active aero, Mid Engine is standard?
4) No more Z06/ZR1?

Big D in the house I live in Dallas, WOW we been getting a lot of rain!!
Anyway here is a good article that makes me feel their is no high priced Halo car its the replacement. Good read from Tadge Juechter, Corvette's chief engineer about corvette and his thoughts. Below is a section pulled out of the article.

? Ask to Tadge Juechter
Why do you think Corvette has been able to stay around for so long when the rest of the domestic auto industry has struggled?
It’s staying true to the mission of the car. Corvette has had its moments where it almost died. I don’t want it to seem like we’ve had a free ride the whole way. But if you look at other vehicles that are the successful long-term, they tend to stay true to their mission. They don’t try to wander off and be something they’re not. There are plenty of examples where cars tried to get bigger, or go from four passengers to two, or tried to migrate upmarket. They get cocky and think, “Wow, we could sell these things at a much higher price — let’s do an upscale version.” That doesn’t work. You have to stay true to what you are.

We could say going to an ME is a major change for the brand but it been talked about for over 30+ years. Is moving to an ME staying true to the brand Well that is up for debate.I buy a lot of cars many high priced Ero mid-engine, I am pretty sure I would not spend north of 150k on a GM produced ME that is not hand built.

The Corvette has been around a long time because the average working guy can afford one.

Since a lot of corvette owners use them for a daily driver, I wonder how that will affect sales of the new C8/Zora if it's base model msrp is kept close to the 1LT stingray?

Nemesis, you and I are on the same exact page. Though recently, it's been referred to as a Z1 which is entirely possible as it's the first generation of the ME. I've always thought we were getting a C8 FE based on a enhanced C7 platform with a revised C7 chassis in addition with new body panels, new LT2 OHV engine, new interior design, and numerous other up to date specs of other sub-systems. Having both makes so much sense.

I've had direct verbal verification that a new LT2 engine has been testing at Yuma that will be in the new C8 FE. I also got direct info that all exterior and some interior panels of the ME were completed a full two years ago. They have had the design pinned down that long.

1) Will something be revealed before September 15th? NO. You won't see anything until press day at the 2019 NAIAS, bank on that, 100%
2) Will we end up with 2 different models? YES (there's a lot to talk about in regards to this)
3) C7 platform gets optional active aero, Mid Engine is standard? C7 won't be using active error, not now, not in the future, just because it was used in patents doesn't mean it's for this specific vehicle
4) No more Z06/ZR1? FE will continue to run all variations, with the exception of the ZR1. All FE will eventually come to a stop (2023+ next gens moving to electric, ext.)

That would be a disappointment. Halo cars are interesting and all, but not what I am interested in buying. Seems like introducing the base model would be much bigger news. I'm much more impressed with a company that can build a superior car at an affordable price. That's a much bigger engineering and manufacturing challenge than a low volume, superior car at an expensive price.

If there is no "base" C8 then why do we see mules with relatively mundane brakes and wheels/tires?

Most halo cars are very limited production cars to show off the brand. I know many think since Ford came out with the GT that GM will follow. I know Ford made buyers sign a contract not to sell for two years, http://www.thedrive.com/news/21623/j...ng-his-ford-gt

I am very interested too see what happens, I still think they make the ME affordable it’s bigger news and harder to do and will have greater impact to the brand and it’s competitors.

You won’t officially see the car until the Detroit show.

What are the chances two cars are revealed at the auto show? How would a C8 base car sales do when a bigger, badder ME is out, i'll bet outta the price range of C7 Z06, Stingray, GS owners.
