Waiting list for C8

I had a $1500 deposit with Monica @ Boardwalk for a long time, but later cut bait. Shes gone now so maybe try Tim since allot of people like him. Either way I'm just going to wait and see. It will be a perfect time for either a heavily discounted c7 or c8.
My other optional plan was to wait for one of you f@@ls to crash one then Ill buy it at the junk yard for 30K. Take it home and make a years worth of you tube videos acting like I'm going to rebuild it (even though I can barely get an air filter replaced). Post the links all over CF and make money. Then when I have enough go buy a new Yellow(best color) BLACK rim c8. When people go back to my next video installment there will be just a picture of the mess all over my non-manly sized Foosh garage floor with the words " Fin".
I need to get my wellbutrin...

It'd be humorous if they played the same game Dodge did with the Demons: those selling at or below MSRP got priority in the build line. Kept pressure on the dealers to keep some of the shenanigans out of play.

With sagging C7 sales, it would be rather ridiculous for BGA to constrain supply of a very high profit margin car if it really is in greater demand.

Do you have any verification of that? It is my understanding that one very big forum dealer has been able to secure an allocation for every ZR1 he's had a customer for. The numbers are on track for 2K ZR1s produced at the one-year anniversary of start of production in March 2018.

Gentlemen,
Let's talk reality here. A deposit is a good faith gesture to purchase an item in the near future. Can you buy a home without a deposit. If dealers did not take and hold a reasonable deposit, too many people would place their names on a wait list just to gain bragging rights. If you really want a car and you want it timely, don't be afraid of making a deposit. Make sure you have a paper that states the conditions and you have no worries. I have never held a deposit that someone asked to have returned. Without deposits, it would make serious buyers crazy.

There are a couple of ZR1s sitting "on lots" not too far from me, but the options... what idiot picked the combinations?

I can say that I personally talked to two of the largest dealers in DFW about ordering and they said they had no allocations. They called around the region and those dealers had no allocations. Is that "verification"? I suppose you could say "no", but to your point... if tChevy weren't limiting them, why couldn't they get one? I could order as many Stingrays, GS, or Z06s as I wanted from just about any dealer I talked to, but not a ZR1.

Dealer here in N E Ohio has 6 or so ZRs that were GM exec cars. Not moving so far.

I took #2 ZR1 in to have the oil changed and tires examined for wear, surprisingly 10,000 miles and plenty of tread left. While at the dealership, I was introduced to a fellow who has 6 Corvettes and a new GS. His purpose today was to put his deposit down for a C8 and he was #3 in line. I find it interesting that deposits are already being taken. It is going to happen!
i can wait

Mike Furman at Criswell has been taking ME deposits for over 4 years. I know this as I am near the top of his C8 priority list and my deposit went in to him on Feb. 1, 2015. The great things about Mike besides he is a Corvette lover/owner as we are, is that he will have massive allocation, and he will, just as he and MacMulkin and other top forums dealers have done throughout the C7 generation only charge MSRP, and most important he is 100% a straight shooter , e.g., always the truth.

I'm also a big Mike fan, and we've been acquainted for almost 15 years. I'm not on his list because I have to see it first and let it grow on me. While I think the 1st year avoid rule no longer applies to the majority of modern cars, I'd rather see a little experience with the car first, and I have no desire to be one of the first. I'm very happy with my current C7 vert.
I also have to say, I'm reluctant to give up my M7. I'm hoping it will make a comeback at some point in the run.

Actually you could put a deposit down on the 2030 model or ANY model and a dealer would take it.

With all due respect...MSRP is/will be too much

Again all depends........... no one is guaranteed tomorrow. You got the money, priorities in line who cares what it costs?
Last time I checked money was meant to be spent.
Anyone have a better idea?

Curious to know with people putting down depoits on a car that has not been revealed. What happens once it is revealed and you don't like the look of it? Do you get your money back?
Can't imagine myself putting down money on something without even seeing it.

I respect your opinion. I don’t want to argue but I’d like to make a point. I paid MSRP for my C7 which was delivered on Oct 4, 2013. So I over paid , in your opinion, but I have had a wonderful time with that car which is over five years old. What you can not put a price tag on is time. When you die your money is worth nothing. Every month or year you wait to buy is a month or year of your life gone. If you think saving a few thousand on a Corvette is worth not having it, then your correct.

I suspect people queuing for C8 now are similarly convinced that car will be well-executed as well. The advance interest in C8 is not hard to understand.
Finally, I think astute salesmen like Mike really don’t care too much about a “deposit”. I think he’s more interested in gauging sincere interest in a new car (C8 in this case) from responsible persons who are willing and able to purchase when they get the call that an allocation is available. I tried to give Mike a deposit via credit card for ZR1 on a few occasions - and he took the information - but never used the card. I’m sure he takes deposits, but IMHO it’s really just one of several methods good sales representatives use to separate real buyers from wannabes.
