Default So is the C8 the beginning of the end of the glue smell?

One would think that with all the latest developments GM can come up with a different formula for the adhesive and finally get rid of the odor that's plagued Corvette's for decades? It is not pleasant and does give a perception of low quality.

Btw, what's the over/under of how many will say they actually like the smell?

My C7 Z06 was bad not as bad as my Lotus Evora GT which smelled so bad I could not drive the car without getting a headache. I was on the phone with Lotus engineers for a few months, eventually they changed out their epoxy that held certain body panels together. My garage smelled so bad that my other cars stunk and everything in it took on the epoxy body shop smell. As long as the new ME has fiberglass and some composite materials and stinky epoxy, I think we could still have some problems. If you ever noticed a film on the inside of your windows that is from the epoxies, plastics giving off fumes especially when it’s hot out.

Good news if we have this problem I have a way to help lessen it if not almost eliminat it. I posted it many years ago on many of my car sites. Very handy when storing cars in the garage or getting rid of Oders. I always add these packets inside the interior. Not sure I can post the link but here is one version sold on a web site that is taking over the retail world, the company starts with AMAZ end with ON. They have lava rock versions that took 8 bags and 2 months to fix the Lotus. It absorbs oders instead of masking them.

This item 4-Pack 200g Naturally Activated Bamboo Charcoal Air Freshener Deodorizer Odor Neutralizer Bags, Unscented Air Freshener, Car Freshener, Moisture Absorber, 100% Chemical-Free Odor Eliminator.

My new C6 was a stinker from Day 1 leaving the dealer. My C7, not so much - in fact I haven't ever really noticed it.

Both my 2014 Z51 3LT as well as my 2017 GS 3LT had/have a very strong smell of adhesives. IMO, it cannot be the best for one's health to breath this hours on end.

On my C7 3LT I told the wife it's the leather but she's not buying my story.

The smell is very unpleasant and lowers the perceived quality of the car, it does tend to wear off a little after a while though. And that is not leather smell. Go sit in an Aston Martin or Bentley and you'll experience the fragrance of leather

It's well known that GM lurks around on this site and takes input from all of us on how to improve the car. Think of it as a free focus group for GM. Sadly, there are some on this site that don't care about improving the car and only focused on its performance numbers. Thankfully GM listens to people that care to improve the car, if they didn't they would have never drastically improved the C7's interior quality. It's a very known fact that Corvette's have had a not so pleasant industrial smell that most attribute to the adhesive/epoxy they use. And as much as I don't care what magazines and publications say about any car, even they have been complaining about this odor for years. When the average target buyer reads those reviews it hurts the cars perceived quality and may keep some buyers from considering the car.

Every new car I have owned, from a $15k Daihatsu Charade to a $130k Viper have had this smell. Leather, no leather, import, domestic, cheaply built, quality car.....Don't see it changing any time soon (that being a good or bad thing depends on your sniffer)

To me, the Corvette scent is the aroma of a boat. I like it. I've had boats and the smell reminds me of being on the lake with a margarita in hand and the sunset on the horizon. I've always assumed it's the fiberglass construction the car and boats have in common. Both my C6 and C7 have had it.

Wow, you triggered quick. You think it smells like adhesive, some others don't. Some like it, some don't. It's subjective. Relax.
