The problem is if you put "old fart" options on the car, the car's image becomes an "old fart" car, which is the current problem Corvette has. Young and middle aged people will not buy an "old fart" car, just because you offer black wheels. Old farts will buy the car even if you don't offer chrome wheels. Corvette says they want to attract younger buyers, and yet they offer "old fart" options. The 90's are over. I'm sure GM is thinking they are making so much money in chrome wheel option revenue. How about revenue lost in car sales? That is very short sighted thinking. It's hard enough to shed an "old fart" image. Just look at the trouble Cadillac and Buick are having. It puts your brand into a "death spiral", literally.

I hope GM ditches the chrome based on the problems with peeling on the C7 wheels. IMHO, bring back the polished alloy from the C5/C6 era.

I hope GM quits using heavy cheap Chinese and Mexican-produced wheels that crack easily when you hit a pothole or road crack. I'm sure they'll continue to offer silver painted, black, and chrome to meet all customer demands. I'm 37 and can't stand all black wheels. Black with a nice polished lip is awesome, but all black just looks like a cheap taxi. I have chrome on my C7 for the street and silver for track.

Love chrome wheels on my C7 as much as I love that performance exhaust. It reminds this "old fart" of the glory days when aftermarket "Glass Packs" were all the rage... Question...FE or ME, Do you really believe after the initial surge GM will continue to sell 30,000 units of two seaters per year at $70k+ without us "old farts" holding up the fort? I think chrome wheels for old farts will be with us for awhile....

IIRC, old farts are why the C5 and later have shallower seats/lower side bolsters, the e-brake was moved to the middle, and the easy entry/exit option was added....

A couple very good points here. New Vettes aren't cheap. Even with the discounts they're not cheap to the average American family. They're more often retirement candy or near retirement and not in the garages of families with 2.3 kids and a dog named Spot. Those families are buying the SUVs.
I suggest that those that are offended by us "old farts" buying/driving our Corvettes, that they should instead buy something other than a Corvette, if the "old farts" image is not getting them all the ***** they think they deserve.

I need you old farts to buy them new so I can buy them used in 2-3 years when you "gotta have its" move on to the hi-po variant

polished is my preference, no cracking or chipping, or silver or some other good looking color.

What most so called "young punks" who yelp and bitch about "old farts" is that some day, if they're lucky enough, and they don't **** off the wrong person with their asinine opinionated remarks, they too will be an "old fart" and have to listen to a new generation of generally clueless and inexperienced "young punks" harass them about silly fads and subjects they know nothing about because when the "old farts" learned these truths the "young punks" were still "pooping their pants"! So, what comes around goes around and whether you like it or not, one day it'll be your turn. Guess what?
