I agree for the most part but if you're reliant on a cell phone you're SOL if you're in an area with no coverage or outages.
Built in navigation systems (with map data stored locally) should however really come down in price IMO to keep it a viable and reasonable option.

Oops, sorry, this one is my favorite. Not the car, but would be very pretty.

2022 C8 of the Year Finalist - Modified
2022 C7 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
Now that the conversation veered into the interior, I'll say this. I hope to goodness that the infotainment in the C8 is better than the "updated" MyLink system that came in my 2019 Colorado ZR2. New, mildly more modern UI, but functionally its crap compared to the MyLink in my C7. May be an apples to oranges comparison talking about a Colorado, but prior to the 2019 "updated" MyLink, it seemed most of the other Chevrolet vehicles I was in, including 2018 and older Colorados, had MyLink systems that were similar to what's in the C7 currently.

Unlike our naive expectations, computer operating systems and GUI's don't always improve from generation to generation. For an example, just look at MS Windows......a history of two steps forward, one step back. Even Apple has screwed a lot of things up over the years. I, for one, think the presumption that a new set of brilliant features always justifies all the "re-learning" it imposes on users who are happy with the old system is disrespectful and arrogant. A lot of corporate training mangers feel the same way,
I can't count the number of strings of profanity I have blurted out at my PC at work whenever Microsoft decided to redo all the utility features embedded in MS PowerPoint. I'm sure my office mates learned many new and unintelligible phrases and juxtapositions of body parts. Call me an old codger - I wear it as a badge of honor.
In the Corvette, the 2014 model had HDRadio and satellite radio integrated. HDRadio disappeared in 2015 and did not come back until later. HDRadio was a big selling point for me and many others, however. WRT MyLink, I don't think there is a special version for Corvette or Cadillac. We will likely get the same thing GM uses on all models of 2020 product. If it sucks, well, you can turn much of it off and use your smartphone via Bluetooth, but that is the Brave New World we find ourselves in.

Every car will soon have a screen, and with it will come internet, and with that will come navigation. If for no other reason, than to be able to find you in the event of an accident (or felony). GPS will be tacked on with all this essentially because it will cost little to nothing to make it part of the package.

Oh dear God what have GM done? It's an ergonomic nightmare!
I so so hate it when GM's interior designers try to get "stylish" on instruments and controls that should be purely functional. It's the same with the abominable interior of my ATS, in which they used haptic touch controls in an attempt to make a pretty design on the dashboard. Really, like WTF is this?
Looks like we can expect similar imbecility on the C8 dash.
Damn does this steam me up. I was really enthused about the C8 but if every drive will be a battle of the buttons then I may have to stick with Porsche.

Wow look at the OP from zerv... also from car scoops... He either works for carscoops and is creating site traffic or the stars are lining up. The OP render is a beauty

The render is beautiful.

I have to admit the large "bolt-on looking scoops" of some of the renders have given me somewhat underwhelming feelings but if it looks at all like the red one here (or even close) then I am all in. Maybe it is just the red or the render angle/proportions but I love the way this looks

That red render is definitely more likely than the ones with the little fang/wing on the door when it is open. If the real car has those, I definitely won't want one as it looks ridiculous.

That can't be right. That is the in dash screen It's too close to the wheel and behind the stalk.

what still shocks me in 2019 is.. why doesent GM make electronics agreement w apple... and place iPad(s) of different sizes in models.. running software to adjust everything from a large screen? completely updatable software, have that screen control all hvac, launch, everything... why do they want to build their own electronics ? hell they could price the car the same... without iPad..or even space for 2.. for passenger...that interlocks w the system.. Siri to change temp, etc.. from AirPods.. and let people put their own iPads in.. apple could offer an iPad through gm for people without ..so it starts an apple affiliation and new apple customers as well...
