What’s to understand. There are those (like me) that would wish that GM would create something exacting since they are starting with a clean sheet of paper. What we see isn’t that - at least for us. Oh well.

Road Runner, I empathize with those for whom the upcoming design is not appealing. I’m only referring to those who believe I got it so wrong that it will look nothing like what I’ve rendered so far. There are plenty of them in this forum as there were plenty of them in the past at other forums when I’ve done this and was proven right.

It is impossible to overstate...
...the sheer, expansive. unattractiveness of that rear end. Chaz is a super talented guy with a great track record. Hope he's got something wrong.

King Hell Weenie here...
Ugh, the number of weenies posting that its "ugly" are seriously getting out of hand. You are basing you entire opinion on one guy's best guess and then just looking at the latest series of renderings and losing your collective minds. A few pages ago Chaz posted some absolutely gorgeous black renders which look stunning because they aren't profile shots that effectively negate the ability to see the curves and creases as we would see them in the real world.
Then there are the sad sacks that can't let go of the past...literally clutching to the dated designs of the 90's. Designs change to appeal to a new era, that is why its so cool to see what tributes to classics show on the new designs and which new design elements are added to the mix to make a modern car. Just stick with what you like and keep kicking those kids off your lawn, and let GM try to appeal to people who can actually embrace change instead of trying to naysay and poo-pooh something that doesnt appeal to your personal taste. Do you people also go on the import tuner forums and rattle off your personal diatribes about how imports are crap compared to the C2 or C3?
I know a forum is a place to have conversations, but theres nothing to discuss about your personal preferences. My hope is that the new C8 actually alienates the Corvette fan base that can't appreciate a new direction because they can't grasp the need for GM to appeal to kids today to keep the Corvette relevant. In a world where kids get excited about Tesla's (electric appliances) GM has to break the "old man car" reputation of Corvette. I was literally talking to a coworker who is heavily into cars, mostly odd British and japanese imports, who had no idea that Corvettes are good at more than going fast in a straight line...he was amazed at how the ZR1 actually humilates exotics on a race track. This is because the image of the Corvette comes with a white haired retiree behind the wheel. These kids would rather buy a crappy Civic Type R because it was targeted at them.
Also the perception that young people can't afford Corvettes is another myth perpetuated by the retirement crowd. Living in northern California I see more young professionals in Porsches, Audi's, BMW's, Mercedes, and Tesla's. They buy based on image, and GM has an image problem with the Corvette. I am 38 and loved my C7 and will own a C8 in a few years, but I will admit that I was really turned off by previous C5 and C6 generations because of image. I am a convert now and one day hope to have a collection of previous generations of Corvettes, but it took GM making a car that polarized the established fanbase to get my foot in the door as a Corvette fan.

Are you saying we're not allowed to have opinions on the renders? This is a "FORUM."
A FORUM for cryin' out loud.
And I would submit that anybody who bases their car buying decision on "image" rather than engineering, design, and objective performance metrics is, in fact, a MEGA WEENIE of GALACTIC PROPORTIONS. A FREAKING TOOL and EUROGEEK.

The front is okay to me, the rear does still look like a disaster though.

If that is the actual rear...
If that is the actual rear, looks like they will have another c7 story going...nice front and side but an *** for a rear...
It looks awkward and I hate to say it but has a overall shape of my 2010 camaro. A car I loved but not nine years later on chevy’s first ME. Time will tell.

Chaz,
Thank you for all of your efforts. It's been very entertaining. I only have access to MS Paint, but I took the liberty of editing your latest rear fascia rendering, based on the rear fascia paint-shop photo and other research. My theory is that there will be a concerted effort on the C8's rear fascia to tie the cascading side blades (which frame the C7's lower rear vents and blacked-out lower fascia area) found on the back of the C7. It will be a variation on the theme in the C8 (the C8's will be more subtle I believe, i.e. shorter blades). In the C8's case, the blades will flank the exhaust surrounds.
I also think we will see either a blacked-out section where I've drawn it below the rear fascia, or a grill, that has to this point been hidden under camo. The darkened area i created would serve to reduce the considerable visual heft of the rear, and again ties itself to the C7's lower rear fascia aesthetic. I also don't think the spoiler, of which I am not a fan at this point, is going to be body colored. It fattens the rear end even more.I think the spoiler would be carbon flash or black to break up the monolith of color on the upper rear. I also corrected (crudely, I might add) the inside corner of the tail-lamp assemblies relative to the paint shop photo...

Also another render in blue, reflecting lots of minor changes, and the addition of radiators behind the grille.

Fan of front and side?
Nice work guys! Fan of side and front of car. Back is odd looking, unbalanced and very 2010 stance like to me. Have one on order so fingers crossed the camo is hiding rear details from these renders?
Appreciate the renders to provide insights.

I just don't understood those people who can't accept that most of the renders presented on the forum (not just mine) are over 90% accurate. Although I do have a proven track record of roughly 95% accuracy with the Mustang and Camaro. You can go back and look those up and compare. You will see that while they are very accurate, they still don't hold a candle to the beauty of real thing.
