In order to race with a 6 motor, how many production cars would they have to make?

Could there be a street 6 and 8 version to make everyone happy?

It definitely does NOT sound like a pushrod motor. The engine and exhaust notes very much have an Italian accent to them.

Default Crankshaft

Sounds like a flat plane crank. I wonder if that would be allowed in the race car if its not in the street car?

I think this is our first really good look at the C8 (albeit it's the C8R).
Everything looks good to me, except those good awful side engine scoops.
Hopefully this won't carry over to the street version...

Agree... I'm all for a ME car, but ME and non-V8 is not a Corvette.

The C8 street car is getting a V8.

And of course ...were not getting the sequential gear box in the C8.

This is a normal reaction from many older folks. Some just can't embrace change and the evolution of technology. Since the industrial revolution, it's happened in every generation.

To me it sounds like a flat plane V8, would that suggest that the production version will be flat plane as well?

From 11 seconds to 14 seconds in, you can see two sets of headlamps; headlamps mounted in the usual location, and a second set mounted directly below the main headlamps, in what was expected to be air inlets grills. Is the second set just for track testing, or will there be two sets of headlamps on the production model?

C8R, so I would suspect they or for track only, at least to start with.

WOW! Nice to see something new. Great sound and looks. Hmmm, I'm heading to Florida in a few days. I might have to detour to Sebring on the way down. Hope they are around for a while.

For comparison. C7 vs ME. I tried to lighten up the MEs pic for more detail but found making the picture darker did better. Note how the MEs wrap around slightly on the top ends and seem to blend almost together across the bottom. A nice and significant difference IMO.

ME

C7

looks like Chazcron nailed it.

FIA and IMSA rules regarding homologation are very complicated. In the GTLM class, the car has to be based on a production car, but the rules don't require running the same engine offered in the street version. However, the engine does have to derived from an engine that is offered in a production car built by that particular manufacturer. Thus, the C8R could be homologated with an engine derived from a production Cadillac (e.g. the 4.2 TT Blackwing).

Engine displacement is being decreased so smaller displacement TT engines will soon be the only ones in the series. 2019 will probably be the last year we see larger displacement NA V8s and only in the C7R..

I think it's a flat crank V8 as well.

Taillights look awesome. I’ll bet 10 to 1 those are on the production version. Guess that dispels the diehards that were hoping for round taillights to reappear! I’ll also bet that the top version like the ZR1 when it finally is released will be a lot closer to something like this sound and not just another beefed up V8, but who knows? Seems to me that’s the way they would start to go with the hi-PO versions. But that car sure won’t have a starting price anywhere in the vicinity of 65000. Interesting at any rate.
