Tires should be 310s in GTLM. Couldn't see from the video if they aren't.
IT can be based on the 4.2 TT, but it won't be the same, as forced induction requires 4.0 liters and under. My guess is a 3.8-4.0 8-cyl TT, based on a larger TT that will be in the street car.
It has been announced that the C7.R is the car for IMSA this coming year. As you noted, it is a lot of testing for a car not running, but I'm not sure that decision was sent in stone until fiairly recently. I've speculated in the past that we will see the C8 in WEC later this year. The new WEC season starts in September and they can homologate for that, run a few races late 2019 and be ready in 2020 for IMSA.
Here's the sound of the 3.9L Ferrari V8 turbo to compare.

Even though I like it I'm not sure a car with looks and sounds as aggressive as that will sell in the numbers GM expects even at near C7 MSRP. IMO, Hope I'm wrong but the daily driver appeal that I love about my C7 (Its now tucked in bed for the winter) seems to have vanished..

If they are testing this now, will they be running it for the Daytona 24? If so, would they show the production car before then? Or would they run the race car and not show the production car yet? And what about LeMans? If they're going to have to run the C7 then, why would they do all of this work on a new car that can't be used for over a year?
Any insights?

there needs to be a lot of track testing to the car to make it competitive in its first season of racing.
Last thing CORVETTE RACING and GM wants is to have this race car unreliable and not competitve on its frist season of racing...

From 11 seconds to 14 seconds in, you can see two sets of headlamps; headlamps mounted in the usual location, and a second set mounted directly below the main headlamps, in what was expected to be air inlets grills. Is the second set just for track testing, or will there be two sets of headlamps on the production model?
I would imagine only for track. I have raced at the night time and we mounted 4 headlights in the front of our car and it still didn't seem like much.

Awww... too bad.... I was hoping it was Trumpian 4D-chess level GM marketing (For the record I like Trump )
I am aware. Maybe they'll call the new motor Blue Flame
Thanks for checking.
I had a student at VIR with a ATS-V with the only mods being a tune and exhaust. Boost was upped, but still on pump gas. It made like 500 at the tire and was very potent. It was great fun... but I just wouldn't want that sound in a "Corvette".

I asked about the tires because what convinced everyone this is the R? Aside from the wing it appears similar to the production versions. Thanks for educating me.
