I never questioned his IQ. Only that he was a TROLL, based on 250 posts in almost 14 years. I had a 1998 C5 convertible that was without question, the worst car I've ever owned. And I got over it....around 2001.

Seeing as how the ME car hasn't been built yet neither you or I or anyone for that matter know how it will compare to a real "sportscar" so your question, although valid, can not be answered until GM actually does.

So OP is talking about a car built more than 20 years ago? Why don't you look at the cars GM is making now? Look at the Camaro for example, it's not a sports car, all serious reviewers say it's in a world class super car territory. I mean a SS 1LE puts same figure 8 as a GT3 RS, that says a lot.

When you look at the zr1 track times on youTube vs every McLaren or other mid engine sports car you soon realize that Corvette is not even in the same ball park. True, cars like McLaren are very expensive but for what you can buy a nice used McLaren for it is not much more than a new zr1. Now, the mid engine Corvette? How can Corvette compete with other mid engine cars like McLaren? Cars like the Porsche 911 make every Corvette ever built look like a wannabe. For example take the c5 Corvette. The c5 had more problems than you could shake a stick at. Not to mention that for 50k you got an interior that was nothing but cheap plastic.
For years I dreamed of the day I could buy my Dream Car the Corvette. I did buy a new c5 Corvette and I have had every problem with it ever mentioned on this Forum. If, and that is a big IF, I ever buy another sports car it will not be a wannabe Corvette!

Well I had a brand new C5, and later a brand new C6 and later ordered and own now a C7 and these 3 cars were the best cars I ever owned. None of the bitched about problems so prevalent on this forum. And I also raced my cars so they weren't coddled garage queens. So the real statement should be, when the bashers are critical is; "How does GM make a car as competitive and good as a Corvette and sell it so cheap?"

I feel sad for the OP! He's either delusional, ignorant, hating or just a troll. Either way, it's not good!

Ok I will take the troll bait... looking at the total cost of ownership I would have to be a multi-millionaire to comfortably afford a McLaren and not worry about anything breaking. I can afford a C7 Z06 on a modest 6 figure income not worrying too much about what might break. My personal rule is to spend at most 10% of my income on my cars. Lets take a look at some of the costs of ownership.
C7 Z06 wheel used - $200-250
MP4 wheel used - $600
C7 Z06 oil change and inspection - $95 ( can do yourself and not void warranty )
MP4 oil change and inspection - $1500 ( good luck )
C7 Z06 alignment - $140
MP4 alignment - $1500
I would love to own a McLaren but for me at this time it make more sense to invest while I am younger and hopefully will have disposable income later to spend on things like a McLaren.

To the OP. I bought a leftover 2017 GS, 3LT, manual trans for $64,000 that included a GM certified warranty.
Serious question. What would you buy with your $64,000 that can compete from a style, performance and warranty basis? Seriously, what should I have bought instead? I’ll keep it in mind for my next car.

^^^ To answer your question, nothing really under $100K! Although your car probably had a MSRP that was probably around $75,000 and it becomes a different ballgame and not really apple to apples anymore when comparing used cars. Either way, It shouldn't be just about the price, the Corvette is a damn great car regardless of price IMO!!! Is it perfect, no, but no car is perfect!!

So, GN is already building a great sports car that is more than competitive with overpriced, overrated European cars.
