That's like me saying you're ugly, despite not having seen you, and only judging by your handle and this post.
Very few people know what it looks like under the camo and fake bits, so pre-judging the looks of the car isn't productive.

I think since the C2 the Corvette has had a certain look when it comes to proportions. Long snout, and short rear. The C8 is sure to change this proportion. May lose some people, and may gain others. I hope the standard C8 is not bland because GM sure has a way of making the "base" model look bland, almost unfinished, unfortunately.

Well, ALL automotive styling is subjective . . . and as has been said, we don't really know exactly what the C8 will look like yet. I personally disagree with the criticism of the base Corvettes . . . in my own opinion, the "standard" Corvette is always the cleanest and best looking. After that, they start to "J.C. Whitney" the car up, with tacked-on bits and pieces like those old model kits. None of it looks that good, and everything they add is another step away from the stylist's original vision. To each their own, of course - I'm sure the C8R will look great all tricked out, but that's what it's for. The "boy racer" street versions just look silly.

Saying that the car “looks Italian” is a compliment IMO. When it comes to merging aesthetics w function, nobody does it better. I have always sensed that the Corvette designers utilized Pinin and Ferrari as a stalking horse.

Of course the C8 is going to have different proportions when you radically move the engine from the front, or the back to sit between the axles. But saying it's ugly is a bit too soon. We still have no idea what it will REALLY look like! And remember, all these cars have to be designed with regard to the laws of physics so of course they'll look like other mid-engine cars. Why the hell wouldn't they? Don't airplanes, high speed trains, race cars and bullets all look similar? Just wait until they come out and you see more and more of them on the road, then make your judgement and guess what, I might agree that they're ugly!

Many felt the same way when the C7 was introduced. Now it appears to be well accepted. Probably best to wait for the introduction and see final product. A mid engine car is going to look a lot different than a front engine model. Many will likely appreciate an "Italian" inspired design, well appointed, moderately priced, American made, good performing sports car. One big reason I came back to a Corvette (C7) after a 20 year hiatus.

Also not sure why you felt the need to clutter the board with yet another insignificant thread, when you could have just replied to any number of existing threads.

I couldn't care less if it looks "Italian" or like a car from another country as long as it looks good. The F8 looks great, as does the 720S, and the new Aston Vanquish Vision looks incredible.
From what we can see so far of the C8, I don't think it looks good at all, but that has nothing to do with being mid engine or looking "Italian". I'm still holding out hope that they have some wizard level camo artists and it will look great once it's revealed.

If I had a nickel for everyone who has trashed the looks of the ME to this point in time, yet owns one three years from now, I would have my ZORA paid for.

Ever notice that so often people will remark about how good a car looks and back up their feelings by saying it looks Italian or looks like a Ferrari. Ever wonder why nobody ever says, "Gee, car X looks great, looks like a Porsche"?

IMHO Vette design language has not been very consistent generation to generation. Look at C1 to C2, and especially C3 to C4. C5-6-7 share some themes.
I suspect C8 will be a pretty violent break with the past. I hope it has a good classic overall shape and doesn't go crazy with the edgy styling. Edgy is about played out; and seldom ages well.

So don't buy one. Personal subjective opinion. A large percentage of the best looking cars in the world are Italian super cars brands. Like any other series of brands they make an occasional stinker but historically they have been the cars to look to for exceptionally good styling.

From the mule pictures it is an unknown? but GM surely had some research on design looks. I think will be a winner. I admit do not like the rear of the C7 but would still buy one. but waiting for the C8. I would bet the C7 will nosssssse divvvve in price. I see the same C7's in showroom forever.

We need to keep in mind nobody has seen the C-8 in person without wraps or camouflage. There are only renderings of what someone thinks it would look like based on the spy photos. I'm reserving my opinion until I see the real thing up close and in person.
