Probably not. I'm having too much fun with my two year old M7 Vert to give it up just yet. Besides, it's Spousal Unit's turn for a new car next time. I'll wait and admire those folks who do pick one up.

That would be a huge mistake cost wise . Inferior across the board and the C8 is targeted to appeal to a younger demographic as well not just the Geritol set. Not selling my highly modified C7 Z06 until the high performance version (Z06, ZR1 whatever) of the C8 is released for a year.

The waiting list has been growing for years...at this point preferimg to see the c8 and hear the hp, performance and of course the orice of various options...i might as well wait for the second year of production order process
i migjt jump first year if I see vehicles becoming available from dealer inventory. Ill then order the c8 z51 fe4 as I want it...wait the 7 weeks and enjoy the next ten years driving that beast...
when the 500 hp rear weight biased rme c8 fe4 dct lunges to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds everyones head is going to explode ordering this “standard “corvette....
not all of us want to spend the coin for 800 hp daily drivers
500 hp 480 lb/ft of tq in 3400/3500 lb rear mid engine targa topped dct equipped sports cars are more than enough to meet our needs...
70 grand, 80 grand with tax and licensing is more than enough money to spend on a car...

I stopped doing base models in 2001 only Z cars for me, it’s not only the big power, it’s the much more aggressive look.

I would def buy one, they have 3yr B2B warranties. Auto only is the hard no for me. Holding out hope the Z models to come will have a manual option. Also, no. A DCT isn't a manual so save it.

For those of us in the frozen North it can be tough to justify having 70 or 80 grand just sitting around for months out of the year. Exactly why I picked up a lightly used version for nearly half off sticker. Weather is getting nice here at last and the snow should finally be gone for good but I have not even had time to get mine out of storage and into my garage yet. By the time I get it into my garage I will have likely missed a month of possible driving days out of our short driving season.

Like others, I am typically a 2nd or 3rd MY buyer, but that is because I also typically keep my cars for at least ten years+, so... I like to see some (most?) of the quirks worked out before buying.
If I was a buy-every-three-years sort, I would most definitely consider buying a 1st MY.

After seeing how well the 2014 prices have held up, I will be sure to get one real soon. It amazes me that I still see 2014's selling just about as much as a new 2019. Sign me up!

Been thinking about it and just unloaded my 700+rwhp gen6 Camaro to get ready. Only thing that scares me is GM - specifically quality and the likelihood they'll screw up the design like they did with the Z06. It took them years to completely sort out heat issues and many C7 owners felt screwed. My Camaro was a 2016 and ordered to spec with only 1 recall, but I feel like I got lucky. The smart thing to do would be to buy a 911 and not look at another domestic car again.

By the time that our deposits become unreturnable we will not only know 2020 information, but we will know more 2021 info. I can't justify buying a 2020 if a 2021 comes out 4 months later--and with a manual trans. But we will know.

I will get the 1st year ME if the specs and option meet my needs after the July reveal. I been on the list for years and the way I look at it she will have a warranty and I have never had an issue getting out of a bad purchase.

With 16% off, $3K loyalty rebate & a great trade in deal, I’m in process of getting a ‘19 GS. Just signed the papers today. Will enjoy the GS for several years, at least. So nope, no 1st year ME for me.
Enjoy what you drive!

I will wait as Corvette traditionally comes out with base first and then a higher performance version. Besides, having too much fun with my 2017 Z06 to give it up just yet.

I might buy a 1st MY C8, but not until someone else has taken the depreciation hit....

Of the 15 or so Corvettes I've owned, I will not consider a first year model again. My early 2014 had a number of recalls and the third brake light was replaced 5 times and was still delaminating when I traded its in on a 2017. I think the ideal time to buy is the third year of production when they sort out the bugs and have fewer restrictions on options/packages.
So, we waited. Then, we started seeing the spy shots of the camo C8's running around, the interior shots, the rear end shots, the Patent drawings of the rear hatch, and, the side camo shots.
Having owned 8 Corvettes since 1972, I have to say that neither the wife, or I, were impressed with what we were seeing. Don't like the rear end, don't like the chopped rear hatch, REALLY don't like the honking air scoops behind the driver and passenger doors. Add to that, were concerned when the C8's unveiling was delayed due to "electrical" problems they were/are having, then, REALLY got concerned after reading the reports regarding the aluminum frame torquing issues causing the glass engine cover to shatter on the mules, and, that was it for us.
I know that opinions are like rear ends,..ie. every one has one, but, at this point in time, our vote was to pass on the C8. So, we purchased a brand new C7.
Maybe someday, when GM works out the bugs they are currently having with the C8 mules, my/our opinion may change, but, for now, the wife and I decided to pass on the C8.
