Remember how the Porsche 928 was created to replace the 911?

Dude... let it go.
You came to a thread to argue higher authority, based on your trip to Germany, but obviously whomever you talked to at the Porsche Museum was either smoking something, or was just trained to deny an embarrassing time for Porsche.
I literally provided proof straight from the Porsche website, that indeed the 928 was originally intended to replace the 911, however much it obviously failed to do so. "Intended" is literally the word used in the article I linked... done with this waste of time.

I have numerous 911 and 928 books. The 928 was developed due to emissions concerns on the water cooled 911 and to a lesser extent safety regulations. The 928 was heavier, more costly and not very reliable (I owned both a 1987 928S4 and a 1989 Carrera). The best tale of development was by Porsche CEO Peter Schutz :
“I went down to the office of our lead engineer, Professor Helmuth Bott, to discuss plans for our upcoming models. I noticed a chart hanging on his wall that depicted the ongoing development trends of our top three lines: 911, 928, and 944. With the latter options, the graph showed a steady rise in production for years to come. But for the 911, the line stopped in 1981. I grabbed a marker off Professor Bott's desk and extended the 911 line across the page, onto the wall, and out the door. When I came back, Bott stood there, grinning.”
'Do we understand each other?' I asked. And with a nod, we did.”

Lovers of 928 have quite a large selection of low cost 928 s and 944 s sitting in peoples driveway un moved for years...same for the 944 ...
take your pick...choose your color...just be ready to opem your wallet wide for parts and repairs that easily exceed the cost of the vehicle..
of course there are rare exceptions of clean running examples..
the nicer part of 911s is a lot of the parts were able in the early years that could be updated with newer iteration parts...to keep them running.
That changed a bit once the water cooled 1999 996 iteration.
every once in awhile I see a silver 996 from 1999 or 2000 and its tiny and delicate in its appearance in a very cool way.
i know many dont like the froed egg headlights but seeing that sweet ride on the palasades quite often...i admire the purity of the design.
i personally like the design with out the big wings etc of racier models...

Usually in automatics where they had to much end play and scored the block. Or bottom feeder cars, replacing the engines with something considered "easier" to maintain. I've seen a few of the conversions. Most of the engine bays are as "hacked" as the rest of the car.

Remember how the Ford Probe was to replace the Mustang.....has nothing to do with anything.

You reflect poorly on the greater Corvette community. I would venture that most Corvette owners openly appreciate other cars, and as car enthusiasts they are respectful of what others may enjoy.....whether they would purchase that car or not. You clearly feel threatened by Porsche in some way to exhibit such strong feelings at the personal level. I truly hope you get through whatever is effecting your personal life. Can’t be enjoyable for those around you. Get better my friend you owe it to yourself and those who may love you!

i would imagine this gentleman clearly senses the negativity continually brought by many porsche fans here on this forum...
with all due respect its quite teoll like and I am sure no corvette , ferrari, lamborghini or mclaren owner makes such negative continual comments about the new porsche 992 as it recently released...
just not appropriate

Actually many of us corvette owners do appreciate many brands of sports cars and as long as the iwners are happy with their choice thats all that really matters....although respect of others goes both ways...

So as you say.....inappropriate! Their is no trolling, but there may very well be some things said that not everyone agrees with...and that goes with Forum territory to some degree. You may defend his actions, but I find them inappropriate and out of line as I can read that many others do as well......and they are far from all being Porsche owners....as if that should make a difference. Most of the Porsche owners have either owned a Corvette or currently own a Corvette that participate on the forum as well. As a past C7 owner that took museum delivery I do not bash Corvettes.....as a matter of fact, I am interested in the C8, but I sure can see the weakness of Corvette while others may choose to ignore or not notice or not care.
