DCT for me either way, I am ready for a change of pace in that way for our fun car plus I'll have the C5.

This is true but should be noted, the shift linkage doesn't have to pass the engine to get to the trans, that could get a bit tricky. I realize they can use a cable and route around most anything or just use the sensor system they have filed some patents on. Point is its not as direct as current layouts but can certainty be done.

I will be less skeptical of the shift linkage for a mid engine manual transmission car when I see how GM has executed it.
Go drive a Cayman. That shifter is like a precision instrument. Beats any Corvette shifter I've ever driven. Porsche figured it out, so I am sure GM can, too.

That's encouraging. Thanks for the info.

Porsche has the best manuals ever. The one in the GT4 is simply perfect. Not saying Porsche is perfect (no need for another Porsche debate) but their manuals are second to none. My C7 and all of my BMW M cars had no where near the precision, shortness of throw or perfect feel. When I trade the GT4 for the C8, it will be the one thing I will miss. If GM could replicate the feel and quality in a MT, it would take the car to the next level. It's academic anyway, there won't be a manual is my bet.

Based on the results of this poll so far. It looks like GM will be making a big mistake if they don’t offer a M/T.

There would be people on this forum trying to convince you why the CVT is better than a manual...

Manual Transmission = Security Feature, car jackers cannot drive them.

Well considering only a small percentage took the M7 in the C7, I’d say this poll only indicates a small vocal minority on CF.

I think a lot of people just settle for the A/T because it’s much harder to find a M/T. The dealers don’t like the M/T either because there’s less money in it for them. When I bought my C7 new in June of 2017 there was less than ten Z51 and base model 1LT in the Southern California area but there was probably 100 similar A/T.

Not true here. I just sold my 2014 C7 convertible M7 back to the dealer I bought it from 5 years ago and he gave me $2K MORE because it is a manual.

This forum will not match the general population wishes. As we all know, any forum is full of car enthusiasts while the general public won’t even know that much about the car they buy. The take rate for the manual will be substantially lower than this poll will suggest. More and more young people don’t know how to drive a manual. Only the dinosaurs buy dinosaurs 😏

You were fortunate or they convinced you they gave more. I traded my 2015 z51 with a manual and got going Auction price. My car had less than 10k miles and was like new. $74,000 MSRP and allowed $45,000 last March.

You made out pretty good considering the M/T was about $2K less then the A/T when you bought it and worth $2K more when you sold it!

The caving in, and raising the white flag of buying an auto transmission only C8, has already started.
