C8 convertible

I don’t think they will make a true vert. It should be kind of a targa

It is pretty clear from studying dozens of photos from camo test car sitings that there are is a coupe version, and a retractable hardtop convertible version. The coupe will most likely have a removable targa top much like the current C7 coupe.

The collapsible steel n plastic hardtop, to me, isn't a convertible. Oh sure, it'll be all James Bondesque, but it ain't a convertible......
I'm more than overjoyed that I got a true convertible Corvette, in a new C7.....

Yes, I stand corrected - in that the steel & plastic collapsible tops are convertibles, but, they're not going to be like the C7, convertibles.. I'm sure that the new C8 convertible will be slick!

While I'm eagerly awaiting the C8, I am not thrilled about what I consider might be a "partial" convertible, in that a removable center roof section, however safer, cooler when up, nifty mechanized, etc., does not satisfy my view of an open top car. So, if I were to get a C8, I wouldn't fool with any targa-type vert, but would use my C2 for true open top motoring. I recognize that true open, canvas-topped, convertibles are quickly disappearing from the market, but I have a long history of coastal living and open top motoring that cannot be met otherwise, personally. I'm well aware that Chevrolet did not consider my personal needs in design of the C8.

I owned an E93 M3, and I could have sworn it was a convertible.

What is a "true" convertible? I'm not being sassy I really am genuinely interested in the differences. thank you

There’s no real tradition to what a convertible is. It’s simply a car that converts from a closed roof car to an open roadster. First three Corvette generations had options for both soft and hard tops on the roadsters. Regardless of soft or hard top, or how it folds, stows, or comes off, if the top “completely” disappears, it’s a convertible.

So much silly BS on here these days... now a hardtop vert isn't a "real" vert. Can't wait to get mine.
the top still fully retracts, it's not a "partial" convertible.

No back window or any other top-related structure defines the difference between a targa top coupe and a convertible. In some sense, a removable targa top panel is just a large sunroof.

.A foldable hardtop to the trunk certainly isn't a "real" vert. The ragtop convertible C7 has become all the more valuable because of the disappearance of this true, iconic Corvette convertible.

As some here believe that is what they will be. The Batmobilesque roofline fairings behind each occupant pretty much will keep it from being a convertible. The open air between the two fairings will define their version of the C8 foldable hardtop. Very targaesque...

I’ve always hated true convertibles with a passion. A spyder is fine, with the buttresses behind each seat, but if it’s a flat deck behind the seats I just think it looks terrible.

The SPYDER looks like a convertible to me.
As far as the future value of the C7 rag top the prices have already tanked by $12,000 off MSRP without even starting to negotiate. Figure the hit once its off the lot & its not going to be a classic.

sigh, i have a sinking feeling about the eventual vert with so much stuff already stuffed in the back of the coupe. maybe they won't even offer a vert in the end. Hanging on to my C6 vert
