Will the real C8 surprise be a mid-engine BEV variant??

What' is "BEV"? I get the EV part, but what's the B?
FWIW GM has eRay trademarked.

Not to rehash the hybrid/EV debate, but to me, the only way the next car doesn't have a ICE is if there are massive improvements in battery and charging technology.
Of course, who am I kidding.. most Corvettes live in their owner's garage and never get out for more than a short drive to a Cars and Coffee type event. Despite the claims of needing to haul half the house for a two week road trip.

I don’t pretend to know all that much about EV except for our AC 48 volt 40 mph golf cart. But, if I remember correctly the Tesla couldn’t complete one lap at the Ring without going into limp mode. I tend to think we are a very, very long way from a C7 or C8 level battery powered high performance sports car unless one just wants to zip around city streets a little.
Additionally, even with the new battery tech Tesla is bringing out and the 2.7 billions Musk just raised, even he is not convinced Tesla will still be around in two years. Time will tell.
All that being said, the Tesla is fun to drive but I find zero comparable driving and handling satisfaction without the rumble of a V8 or the whine of an 8,000 rpm beast and the manual or DCT upshifting and downshifting.
