Why not Corvette ZORA?
Kind of disappointed Chevy trying to keep some type of strange continuity with the FE car by calling the ME gen 1 - a stingray -
I just dont get it...
THE ALL NEW CORVETTE! .........stingray.....
Something other than a stingray.
All I can think of is someone from marketing or research or wherever in there panicked when doing their research and said "we need to keep continuity so let's do...... this!"
I think it would have benefitted the brand by leaving the FE everything besides the Corvette name in the past.

Stingray sounds better. Zora sounds stupid. "This is my Corvette Zora" , "This is my Zora Corvette"

It's a Corvette and Stingray for the most part is Corvette, best name ever bar none.

Gotta keep those ties to the Corvette tradition alive with the radical change in platform, hence, the name continuity. "Zora" is arcane minutiae to the general population, but Stingray resonates with anyone who knows anything about cars.
I suppose "Zora" could be reasonably substituted for "ZR-1" in a six-figure, limited-production model somewhere down the line that could only be expected to sell about 2500 units a year max. Like the C7 ZR1, a car like that is only viable in the GM world if it shares a majority of common parts with a base car that sells 25-50K units a year at half the price.

Simple. Zora will be top shelf ! Stay tuned will take some time for that release. Will be $170k to $190k. Track times will be unreal!!!
