Rest assured....
No matter what, there will be haters. With the C7, it was the tail lights, With the C-4 it was harsh ride (very true), The C-5 was the 'big butt' etc, etc, etc,,,,

And with the C8 it'll be the generic, busy, smushed Camaro styling.

It's my opinion that most of the haters are simply not able to afford what they hate.

To me except for the C4, Vette's are objects of Automotive Lust and pretty much unobtainable. I had a C5 Z06 at one time, and i realized that I've paid too much for it because I was sprung!!! The next one I get will be a much better deal!!!

2020 C8 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
There's a fine line between "hate" and "constructive criticism"
GM can still learn a few things from the public.

Yep - some people can't stand the fact others do not share their opinion and go on these ridiculous tirades.
I think the C8 is going to be a huge hit, but some die hard FE fans will inevitably feel that the corvette has been ruined. A smaller minority will hate the styling and so forth. GM is not making this car for the minority of corvette buyers. Demographics are changing and GM has to keep this product competitive. A few of these people will probably camp out here on CF and spend years informing everyone how much they do not like the C8. They are wasting their time and need a life.
Outside the community of CF people, there have been some interesting discussions on Jalopnik on the corvette demographic. A lot of enthusiasts have some very distorted perspectives on corvette owners. Many of these same people seem to hate the corvette for myriad reasons - what it is, isn't, and in many cases these opinions seem to be at best loosely based in reality on the quality and performance capabilities of the car.

I'm still fairly young, not quite over the hill yet, have owned corvettes since my early 20s, and now have a 997TT and gen 1 NSX. I've owned several C5s, C6s, and now a C7Z06. To me the current C7 is not only one of the best styled sports cars (one of the better looking corvettes IMHO) it also is one of the more enjoyable cars to drive. It strikes a nice balance between raw and refined. It looses nothing to the NSX or 997. When I read the Jalopnik comments, I'm convinced these people are just regurgitating the same narrative they've read from biased reporters that has not been true (more or less) for 10-20 years.

I think on of the major image issue with Corvette is that it's cheap to acquire. It also it's greatest strength. I can't afford a 911 in my wildest dream but I can afford a C7. This is why Corvette will always been look down upon. It's the fact that it's an very attainable dream to own one that it doesn't have the same prestige as owning a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. Even if my little C7 Z51 smokes a lot of supercar on the track. At the end of day, it's only a Chevrolet.
Since the average age of Corvette owner is really on the high side, I didn't expect anything but pushback on this radical design change. Specially, the fact that GM decided to only offer a DCT. Expect manual lover to always hate the C8 even it's a better and faster car. My C7 is a M7. I love it but I am the kinda guy who doesn't really care that much about that. I was willing to buy an A8 but I was lucky enough to find a M7 on the used market. I am glad the M7 lovers are still going to be around when I want to upgrade to the C8, that way I know I can ask for a premium. Thanks guys.

There’s really no difference between the fan boys and the haters. The truth lies somewhere in the middle. Just assuming it will be a huge hit because it’s a mid engine corvette is no different than assuming it will fail because it’s a mid engine corvette.
It’ll be marginally successful as corvettes always have been. It won’t knock the earth off it’s axis. It will be a great value for the performance and for that reason it will sell. No it won’t be stealing customers from Lamborghini and Ferrari or even Porsche 911 customers.
Yes i I can afford one, and no I’m not a mid engine fanboy. I prefer enjoyable and engaging machines. Probably why I have several nice motorcycles as well. A video game simulator on wheels doesn’t do it for me.
There’s also the question of why. Why alienate a big part of your market to do something new and different when you could spend all that r&d money building a higher quality version of what you’re good at. Corvettes in the current configuration have nothing to prove from a performance perspective with any competition at almost any price point. The reason corvettes can’t compete with 911 sales has more to do with build quality and customer experience than anything else.
So tell me why the mid engine/no manual transmission route is the way to go? Porsche outsells corvette with a horrible rear engine arrangement and will continue to do so against the mid engine car. All while offering a higher price and less overall performance from a numbers perspective.

BTW, it's up to the person making a claim to back up & provide proof of what they are claiming. Not the other way around.
As the saying goes - Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence

Agreed. Proving a negative is a logical fallacy.

I am sure there will be parts of the car that are not universally liked, but taken as a whole, I think the car will be very well received.
