the only AWD hint I saw was them mentioning the CERV II and III but did anyone pick anything else up? I doubt the base would have AWD though

exactly as I expected it, exactly as how he had said once upon a time that the goal was to bring the price down with the performance up...so the Z51 performing on par with the C7Z06 for 60 grand is nothing "new" , they did the same thing with the C7Z06 performing as well or better as the C6Zr1 for 40k less....history will repeat

Yup, the PDK is pretty magical. Porsche always seems to have better acceleration numbers than their horsepower would suggest. Corvette going this route was smart.

He sure did. "Where else can you get a car that will go 0-60 in under 3 seconds, for under $60 thousand dollars"....

Only naturally aspirated V8 in its segment.

Ah, hell yes.

Correct. And I find this to be suspect.

0-60 is great if you plan on racing for the first 60 feet.

The C7 base vs Z51 0-60 was 0.2 second difference. If we go by that as a guide... 3.2sec 0-60? For a base model that's still damn crazy. By comparison other sports cars with that performance are approaching $100k.

The 0-60 time has do with DCT and launch control, less to do with Z51 and its tires. If there is a difference between specs, it will be very little.

Based on the pricing of the 2019 C7 2LT Z51, I would expect the comparable equipped 2020 C8 1LT Z51 would be closer to $65K

Based on the pricing of the 2019 C7 3LT Z51, I would expect the comparable equipped 2020 C8 2LT Z51 would be closer to $75K

Either way the Z51 (deeper final gear ratio and sticker tires) will be 0-60 in about 2.8 secs, while the base model will be closer to 0-60 in the slightly less than 3.0 sec mark.

Roll raced the base is gonna get crushed at lower speeds say 30 40 50 to wherever. When gearong is short like that there's given and take deoending on those other ratios. Look at other ME cars 5 to 60 vs 0 to 60 for the reasoning behind my guess.

Beyond impressive if the Z51 can beat 2.9X to 60 but the reap test is 0 to 100.. thats the "new 0 to 60".

It's a good start. Fix the nose and it's the best looking design gm has had for as long as i can recall.

Still doesn't feel like a Corvette to me.. never will as an ME... which is funny because ever since Zora thats what it was set out to be lol..

You think there will be a 0.6 sec differential between base and Z51? Did they say there would even be a Z51?

That's an accurate concern when discussing turbo-charged 4 cylinders like in Porsches, since their lack of torque makes their only trick a DCT-aided 0-60. They lost a full second in some cases 5-60 (like you're alluding to). But that won't apply so much to the new Vette as it is an NA V8 with torque.

Don't get confused as Mark Reuss announced on stage that the car capable of doing 0-60mph under 3sec comes bearing price tag under $60K. I don't know why some people are getting confused even after Mark clearly stated it and thinking that only the $75K will be capable of 0-60mph under 3sec.

When it comes to top speed I guess it will be 200-205mph. Anything higher will be bonus.

Naturally aspirated is good and fun, but when you live a mile up it is not nearly as fun anymore. They need a turbocharged, not supercharged, version asap. It was bad enough having to put turbos in the FE versions, now it's going to be a pain.

The sound of the car did make it seem like there was some kind of whine or whistle. What was that noise?

The Z51 package on the C7 was only $5K more so I don't see it being $15K on the C8

Not until about 120 or so. The people that had no idea what mid-engine + DCT meant will be pleasantly surprised.
