Default Italians perspective

I'm currently working on a project for an Italian company. The two reps here right now are both from Maranello, and have worked in Ferrari production facilities.

I showed them the pics of the C8, and they both thought it was a new Ferrari product, and were shocked when I told them it was the new Corvette.

Thought some of you may get a kick out of that.

HaHa! Nothing wrong with copying a Ferrari. Italians know style for sure. Good story.

Probably a fair amount of cursing going on in Italy over the new Corvette!

If fit and finish is good and performance....it will be a bargain.
The Italians are good in marketing there product and getting all the money.
But now unless you really want ferrari you might buy a corvette.

Ferrari is the total package. Style, handling, emotion, feel, smell, engineering, performance.

This is not a Ferrari. Its not meant to be one. Its a sports car for the masses. That's not a bad thing but it is what it is.

IMO the Porsche Cayman has the biggest worry now.

As I've said, when I get my c8 I'm buying two Ferrari fender Shields and slapping them on the C8 fenders!

You and very other person that wishes they could own a Ferrari.

It's a Corvette, not a Ferrari, and will never be a Ferrari.
That's totally fine. They are 2 different cars.

Don't care what people do with their cars but, it's going to happen and probably happen a lot. It's a shame, but it is what it is.

Forget Ferrari. Just how many styling queues did Chevrolet lift from the Lamborghini Aventador alone? I’ve lost count.

I also work with Italians on a daily basis (non-automotive). I'll have to ping them for their reactions. Should be interesting. I think most of them are car guys, but maybe not total nuts though.

You could cover the whole thing in prancing horse badges but sorry to tell you people can tell the difference between a $60k Chevy & a $300k - $2 million Ferrari.

When I get through the billion new posts here I look forward to reading the Ferrari forum impressions. Not that these two cars should be considered direct competition.

I would bet most people would have no clue. We are enthusiast. The average person just doesn't care.

The C8Z's will be monsters! Ferrari/Lambo/McLaren will see some customers buying C8Z's for their collections

Cayman is going in a completely different direction. Next gen will be hybrid and eventually full EV.
