The aftermarket solution to center exit exhaust
Bare with me for this thought exercise. Please.
Initially I was thinking there was no way for a center exit exhaust like the C7 because the obvious reason being the motor, trans etc. However after looking at pics of the cutaway C8 on display, there's gobs of space for an exhaust company to make a center exit exhaust.
Granted the current OEM diffuser that's painted Carbon Flash would absolutely need to be replaced with a custom made one, otherwise you'll simply have to take a saw to the OEM unit and that's pretty dumb. Not to mention where the OEM exhaust exits would just be gaping holes unless filled with similar mesh found in the OEM diffuser.
Pointed out in yellow, actually behind the mesh, is the muffler, one giant tube of a muffler.
Seen below
Now if you look at the next photo you can see the path both exhaust tips take to exit the diffuser.
For comparison here's a stock GT3 exhaust with similar bathtub of a muffler, but with center exit tips.
Now the aftermarket unit below shows how much space is available once the oem muffler is removed and again center exit tips.
Understandably most will not want persue this given the rear diffuser will need to be replaced with an all new redesigned piece, but there were numerous C7 folks swapping theirs out for all carbon pieces, or carbon with fins etc. I have no doubt a reputable company will make a carbon unit, but they could also include a center exit thus giving customers a more "traditional" Corvette exhaust appearance.
Lastly please refrain from the typical negative responses like, "no one is gonna modify their brand new Corvette," or "we shouldn't have to do this if Chevy just did it," or "give it a rest, the C8 can't have center exit exhaust." However critisim is welcome and I would love to see what others have to say on what companies could make available to customers.

I am with you, I was so disappointed why GM went with side exhaust instead of the signature center quad exhaust that was so distinctive for the last three gen of the CorvetteDNA. Not to mention that we’ve lost the round taillights

Without the trunk there would be a boat load of options for exhaust.
And I am a golfer, LOL, and I am thinking this, but the car is too long in the back. Ditch the big trunk and make an area for a couple of smaller soft side type travel bags.
But hey, don't want to upset the core buyers of the Corvette. Better get it all electric soon or it will be dead anyway. Young folk are way more environmentally conscience than we motorheads. Golf, car racing and girl chasing are soon to be on that politically incorrect list

It's not a gripe from me, I'm just thinking how quad tips might be possible because many think it's impossible. Only thing about the exhaust I don't care for is the weird semi square tips, they just look bad. As I said these are ideas that seem within reason, especially considering the aftermarket defusers that popped up for the C7.

Seeing the C8.R video of it screaming around a track at night you can see little blue flames coming out the exhaust that look like they are closer to the center of the car. Perhaps they will move them closer to the center for the higher performance version

Screws up the trunk and diffuser.

But the exhaust made the back of the car stand out. Strange thing to change. So generic now.

Nothing wrong with stating new ideas. There will probably be some that would prefer either single round tips or dual round tips in the place of the semi-square ones. The aftermarket will take care of this. I don't compare this to the "round tail light" gripe. Different taste for different folks, but there are some on here that seem to not want others to have different tastes than theirs or heavens forbid, change a single thing from the way GM designed it.

I really like the idea of the straight pipes though the body, getting rid of the big center muffler and running the tips straight out the back. I spent a few minutes thinking about what it might look like.

An airsaw reciprocating saw will make an opening really fast and clean. I’m set up to do it and will also make quad tips too. Piece of cake.

It's just through some crappy little mesh, I I think it'll be a piece of cake to chop the holes. You planning to put any kind of mufflers on it, or just run them straight off the cats?

You need to remember that the muffler is also the X-pipe.
So you can't just put two mufflers out towards the sides and route the exhaust back into the enter.
You would get the sound of a cross plane V8 instead of the smooth sound of a cross plane V8 with an X-pipe.
