Interior is deal killer
"But it's so sleek and intuitive and just beautiful!"
It's only beautiful so long as you try your hardest to keep it free from finger prints, smudges, dust, pollen, water/liquid spots, and on and on and on. Gloss black, glass like touch surfaces, is absolutely one of the worst additions in the automotive interior, more so than a "tacked on screen." You talk about intuitive, what's intuitive about Porsche forcing you to move the center air vent via touch surface only? There is no manual option and you have to use the screen, because the vent is motorized... That's insane.
The 970 Panamera has a button for everything and I love it. It's absolutely better than the clipboard sized glass surface in current models and I'm glad when I get into a C8, it will have physical buttons and not some garbage touch interface.
Lastly I particularly like those that keep saying the row of buttons isolates the passenger... When they've never sat in it. Those who have actually, physically sat in the car, have said it's not isolating like photos suggest.
I think it's good they put physical controls in the interior, though I don't think they will be nearly as intuitive as having a dial you can reach and turn from muscle memory. I think the biggest thing that makes the screen look "tacked on" is it's too large, and interrupts the flow of the dashboard.
I don't understand why the screen needs to be that big. The driver's eyes should be outside the car.

And that screen to the right of the steering wheel looks like an I-Pad they mounted to the dash, the flow of the dash behind it to the button bar leaves a lot to be desired.
I like old school ***** and buttons, hi-tech is great until the touch screen craps out or doesn't work, and then nothing works, a button or dial is more simple.

But to me it's more about Function over Form and I like that it's angled toward the driver.
I would rather have a large screen considering what the C7 screen is like.
C7 screen is a nice size, but sometimes there's so much stuff showing that can't be removed, and blocks a lot of the info .. Especially when using NAV.
At this point it is what it is

The troll that you responded to is clueless as he rips the C8 on a daily basis and in this episode of hate for its preferable switching gear and ergonomic placement.

Anywho, ya I'm quite happy with my "outdated" 970 GTS. To be honest, I love every second behind the wheel and every one I've had in the car seems to love everything about it too. Hands down best sedan I've ever been in or owned.

I thought the cockpit was great and the "wall" probably not at all obtrusive and isolating. He had a different feel, saying he greatly preferred the C7. I like 'em both...will need to sit in a C8 to confirm of course...
