This. If you hammer a car to death, it will crush the value. No way around it.

By looking at used prices on GT500's at the end of the day it's still just a Mustang and will depreciate accordingly.

Frankly speaking, this isn't true at all. A GT500 of any year will hold its value quite well stacked against other Mustangs. I traded in a '12 GT500 earlier this year, and the dealer gave me 33k for it. If that car had been a fully loaded 2012 GT, I'd have gotten somewhere in the neighborhood of 17k for it, if that. I know we're all Corvette fans and booooooo Blue Oval, but let's not kid ourselves. GT500s hold a premium for a reason. Hell, Terminator Cobras (the 2003/2004 cars) still run in the 20s. More if they're unmolested*. I got 33k for a 7 year old car that had like 64k on the clock. It was on their site for something like two weeks before it sold at their asking price, which was 37k listed (I expect the buyer was probably able to deal it down a bit).

These new GT500s will hold their value. The base model C8s, I candidly expect will not. The special models (GS/Z06/ZR1) most likely will.

*Actual unicorns and fairies would be a more common sight, honestly.

That's the problem. So many Corvettes C8s that they will not hold their value .Maybe the first 10. The only way you can feel like you made a little progress is in the initial deal. Another reason over sticker is a suckers bet. After that it's down hill all the way. Of course one time people thought the 60s cars were junk. You could buy one and store it for say 60-70 years and it might go up. The '63,'67 did

The GT500 with the performance package and carbon fiber kit/Big Wing will hold up waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than a Base GT500. No contest.

760 hp for under 6 figures is enough reason to get the GT 500.

The GT500 is old news before it even hits the showroom floors IMO. I'm in on a C8 but if I had the cash I'd buy a GT350R and never sell it and add the other cars like the C8..

Except that motor has some pretty bad shortcomings.

A BIG IF... GM has leftover LT5 engines, putting them in the Camaro ZL1 1LE would be a great alternative to the Shelby GT 500.

This car will be used as my daily driver.

Finding a deal on the GT500 and paying MSRP I will be at $74,000

Going with the C8 I would do the Z51 package along with LT2 or LT3 witch would put me more or less right about the same price as the GT500.

So Not being biased either way. Say 4 or 5 years and 50k-60k miles witch will hold its Value more? And my how much do you think?

love to hear what you guys think on this subject on two great cars🇺🇸
Dumbest question ever, do you know anything aout cars?

I don't see how its a dumb question. I'm just looking at the ownership as a whole. They are both great cars.

It’s only a dumb question because some people on here don’t want to accept the fact that a Mustang will hold its value more than their beloved Corvettes.

Mods, if you'll just charge SoCal2fast a dollar for every question mark he uses, no one else will need to pay for our subscriptions!

I'm surprised this question was asked....a daily driver that will have over 50k miles when sold in 5 years.....come on, let's be realistic. The resell value won't even matter then because you are going to be "trading" a car that is worth a percentage of what you bought it new for. Collectors, the people who pay good money for cars, are not looking for a 50k mile daily driver. My belief is that people that plan to daily drive a car for five years should buy the car that they feel will be the best fit for them now.
