I think it's the result of people placing their fat azz directly on the side bolster while getting in, and then either sliding off the bolster onto the seat and/or rotating their azzes while on the bolster down and into the seat.

You could probably make any seat with decent side bolster look like that by doing this. Get in and out of your car properly and it'll be a non-issue.

For me it's not a $60k car, it's a $90k car..... I bet the seats are what they are. I hope it's better for production but I doubt it.
