You should get that wet sanded. I see swirl marks in the reflection.

I have never heard that before... no negative effects on the paint or finish over time?

Neither have I. That sounds like a terrible idea. Isn't it super acidic?

Actually there's a really large number of people that use zaino products.

I checked the material safety data sheet and it says the pH range is 7.5-8.5 which makes it slightly base.

Well, I guess I'm a "nobody" then. And, I guess that the dozens(plur) of people who have stopped me at the supermarket, gas station, and restaurants in the 4 months since I've owned my second C7 to ask how I got the car to shine like it does, are "nobodies" too. One guy even went so far as to say that I should hand out sunglasses to protect him from the shine.

So, what do you do besides posting snarky, unproductive posts to this forum?

The second picture has a very large relative light source, the white ceiling. The white ceiling is mostly what you see reflected in the paint and because it's relatively large compared to the car.
It is more than that. The sun is a true white light source producing all colors of the spectrum. Once the light filters through the atmosphere the spectrum changes to some degree due to atmospheric absorption of certain wavelengths, however, it is the closest thing on the planet that you will find to a true white light source other than maybe the arc of an electric current across an air gap. Sunlight is also super powerful and far brighter than any man made light can achieve. That produces glare along with the color of the car.

Inside a showroom the fluorescent lights produce a limited color spectrum whitish light that when bounced off a whitish ceiling which has it's own color spectrum reflects a filtered spectrum of colors resulting in a somewhat less than full spectrum white light in the room.

Actually it is your post that is unproductive. I have maintained car finishes professionally for longer than you have been alive. Your recommendation would be questionable 20 years ago never mind today. If you had kept up with what professional detailing industry you will not find anyone following your recommendations. The past 20 years or so the detailing has been getting more scientific in their approach to protecting and maintaining car finishes. Research this topic, eventually you will see how antiquated your recommendations are compared with what pros are doing today. If you want to educate yourself you can start by reading through the detailing forum here on the Corvette forum. It will get you started.

Only negative I have found after using it for 30 years is it can pick up dust quicker if you are in a super dusty area. No negatives as far as hurting the paint.

Use this and your detailing goes down to almost nothing. That's why I laugh at the guys who swear by Zaino and other systems. I tried them all. This is it. It is BEYOND a swirl remover, it removes the holograms that show up in Black paint. If you don't have a Black car, you cannot comprehend the heartburn we go through.
Very interesting. So does the 3M products in the PDF require an orbital polisher? Or can it be applied by hand? I used to use 3M’s Fill’n’Glaze (pink liquid) many, many years ago on my ‘71 Vette and it was amazing the shine you could get with that. How have you applied it on your Vette and what steps did you take to achieve that mirror and swirl free shine? Thanks!

I'm guessing it probably doesn't hold up in the rain very well. My '98 was primarily a show car and never got wet. As you said, I never experienced any negative effects by using it.

What do you recommend, that doesn't require machine-application?

What's really unproductive is a professional detailer posting on a forum full of DIY washers/waxers that "nobody" uses Zaino products!

You're 100% right except after all that you've done with Zaino then add a coat of "Bead Maker"! It's very impressive and also when any car is under shop lights it always looks better. I agree and do you know how tough it is to make a white car shine. Well, doing what you do plus a coat of bead maker on top does really nicely.

and for a change of pace, here's my friend's Torch Red ZO6 : That's how they get the "reveal" cars so shiny!

The so called "Professional Detailers" will never, ever tell you that a wipe down or two of Adams pink detailer on a clean smooth surface will provide 98% of the shine that they give you for 2 or 3 hundred bucks.

I recommend for starters you get yourself a dual action polisher and learn how to use it. Join a detailers forum and learn. Hand application will never be as good as using a orbital polisher. 90% of a car's finish will be dependent on how much effort you put into the paint correction process. If the paint is not perfect then you are just putting a shine over a surface with defects in them. Defects will always show up under good lighting conditions and stand out like a sore thumb.
