Default C8 Convertible formally added to NASA "Approved Convertible" list for HPDE use

I was able to get GM to confirm the roll-over strategy in writing to NASA's national office (not the Space folks). As of this evening, the C8 HT vert will be added to the "approved convertible" list for HPDE use. The ultimate decision-maker is the track so they may over-rule NASA, but in general, the car is cleared for HPDE use.

"roll over protected" discussion thread.

Yep! Now I need to sit in a vert top up... not looking good for me being 6'4 and wearing a helmet. The coupe is fine... the targa roof has a large inset area. Look here..... compare top of seat to roof and especially the visor vs. roof.... the vert roof covers the entire targa roof latch. You appear to lose 2" of headroom over head

Even with this allowance, many tracks still allow verts to only run in the slow run groups.

Not with NASA... it’ll be OK for all HPDE or nothing.

Incredible. Can't believe you actually did it.

Does anyone know the if the SCCA allowed c7 verts for time trials or track night in america. They had the following language for allowable verts:

"The vehicle is equipped with documented factory installed roll over protection (examples of manufacture documented roll over protection would include hydroformed and reinforced a-pillars or windshield frames and factory installed roll bars and/or “pop-up” bars that are designated as roll over protection."

It's hard for me to confidentiality decipher what combination of a pillar/windshield/roll bars they want.

If it's documentation for a pillars only we should get it sent over to SCCA ASAP while Chevy is being cooperative.

Now I just need someone to option out a LT1 Z51 Sebring Orange convertible with black interior, keep it in good shape, and sell it to me in 4-5 years time.

Fenders and trim in black too please, racing stripes optional
