Default Employee discount on C8

I qualify for an Employee Discount as I am a GM Legacy. My father worked at GM for 35 years.
I will buy a C8 but not until this discount is allowed by GM. I asked a dealer when the discount would be available. He said GM does not give them advance notice when they will allow the GM Employee discount. He believes that most dealers have sold out on their 2020 allocations so he doubts they will do it for the 2020 model year.
This is what I expected from buying Corvettes in other years.

Last I checked, GM hasn't even figured out what the final employee pricing/discount will be on this car. None of the GM guys can get them yet.

I expect Supplier / Employee / Legacy, etc won’t kick in until 2021 at the earliest. Just a guess on my part.

When GM allowed employee discounts on C7, they raised the msrp of the car $3200 on the same day.

The GM discount is a formula price agreed to with the Union and works the same for all the products.

They have it figured out. This’ll get you in the ballpark.

Buy now at msrp because base price will go up and your discount won’t see very good.

Raising the invoice before allowing the time for GMS buyers to take delivery, and the significant invoice increases, really pissed me off.
But, it all worked out, because the decisions GM made, and the final product, made me skip the entire C7 generation, which I am very happy about.

GM better hold the line on the C8 invoice, because the C7 invoice increases were unjustified..

The C7 price increases were already ridiculous and unjustified.
The Corvette program requires large sales volume.
If GM raises the C8 invoice, they're going to lose the Corvette customer base.

GM better hold the line on the C8 invoice.

A new Corvette model has been a big thing since the C1. The law of 'supply vs. demand' pricing economics has reliably prevailed for 100+ years - it will apply to the C8, the same as it has ever since the C1 and will do so with the C12, etc. someday. They need to start paying suppliers for all of their extremely expensive brand new tooling costs. The C8 is definitely holding it's own out of the gate. A good thing for our 'hobby'. Don't anticipate a price break anytime soon.

you are right on the discount but they don’t respond to bugs very well unless it’s super major. Think rocking seats in the c5, engine issues in the c6 and poor wheels in the c7.

Discount has nothing to do with the union.

If that was the case, the Corvette would be free to all GM employees! You get a Corvette, and YOU get a Corvette, and...

The Employee Discount is considered to be an employee benefit and is in the Labor Agreement and has been for decades. The pricing is multi-faceted and includes limitations on DOC fees, non-payment of certain advertising fees, pass through of certain dealer incentives, etc. The sale of these vehicles by the dealer is highly regulated and subject to audit by GM.

But, then again, I am sure those who are neither employees nor in the business know far better than the guy who has sold thousands of them.

If you go by the C7 intro'd in 2014, the 2015 MY was when GM offered Supplier, Employee, Military discounts.

That whole employee discount program is so abused. I know several people that aren't even related in any way but "know" someone that is and get that gms price it's shameful. So corrupt.
