That's likely to be difficult. The length and positioning of the exhaust components for a ME is quite different than a FE.

Probably will not sound like your hellcat but always go aftermarket.

I think a titanium exhaust would sound fantastic, maybe like Akrapovic!

As a former SRT guy, my take is that a supercharged hemi has a very distinct sound you won't replicate. That said, all the big biys that make aftermarket exhausts are chomping at the bit to get their hands on a C8 so they can start the design and fabrication process. Without a doubt you'll be able to get something that accentuates the C8s own distinct sound. Not to mention the forum's vendor section will be flooded with all kinds of other aftermarket goodies.

If you like the ability to have an adjustable exhaust like the NPP, you’ll need it to get the valves. They aren’t addable later. I imagine Borla and others will come out an exhaust that will take advantage of the valves. Of course, if you want it loud all the time you can save some $$ and skip this option. If you opt for the Z51 package it comes with the NPP.

Its not the whine of the supercharger its the growl from the exhaust. I was planning on getting the NPP but hoping that it alone would be able to accomplish this without going aftermarket. I didn't want to spend the money on it too if it would not help.

I get that, and my recommendation would be to get the NPP and hear it for yourself in person. If it's not enough sell it to someone with the base vette and go aftermarket. You'll have to wait for someone to build the C8 exhaust anyway. I did that with my C6 GS -- got the NPP first and eventually sold it and got a Corsa Xtreme.

I want the C8 to sound like the LFA, what aftermarket exhausts are the closest to that sound?

Nothing for the C8. Yet. Manufacturers have to get their hands on a C8 first, design an exhaust based on stock or NPP footprint, fabricate a test exhaust, check fitment, QC, then full production, give or take. Watch for Akrapovic, Meisterschaft, and a few others.

Had a friend with a Borla system on his Vette that sounded better that mine. Also no drone when cruising on the Interstate. The Flowmasters I had on my truck sounded better. Added aftermarket mufflers to my 1st Vette an 1988 sounded great. Although an unfair comparison, the long tube headers on the 502 cid engine in my ProStreet Rod with 3 inch pipes and a pair of straight through Bola's sounds much better and not that loud at idle and cruising in town!
IMO if you want a great sound, wait for the aftermarket to develop a quality sound. Then listen to the sounds on their websites and pick the one you like! Some will even have a bypass system like NPP but that may require having the NPP computer electronics. . However be prepared to pay up to twice the NPP price with installation! My C8 Z51 comes with NPP and like my 2017 Grand Sport I'll set the sound in the loudest possible mode, probably like the C7 that will be Track. Not the best BUT OK for me.
PS: Go to the Borla website and look at the many systems they have for the C7. You can listen to each. Corsa has similar. These folks are pro's in the exhaust sound business! The NPP was (and probably still is) built by Tenneco who are an OEM Tier 1 exhaust system supplier (and my customer!) Considering what GM no doubt defines as the max cost they will accept, they did a good job! Borla systems will cost you more and make GM less margin!

Im with ya...I love the sound of American Muscle! Nothing in the world sounds more pleasing than a snotty V8 idling with a choppy cam to go along with it!
That being said, I think these new cars will sound much different than the former...Not necessarily in a bad way, just different. Especially the Z06 when that baby hits the market. Im hearing rumors of a flat plain crank motor which sound very Europeanish! If you were able to hear a clip of the new CR8 testing, I would imagine that would give us our best guess of whats to come.
But to answer your question, many others already said it...Go aftermarket if you like aggressive sounding sports cars. I went with Corsa Extremes on my C7Z and had Bullets on my C6Z...Both sound amazing!
