C8 has no round lines to it at all. Yet they put a round gas cap cover on, why not improve that by making it stick out even more with a different colour.

100%.......Less is more. Its sad when you see cars with 50 aftermarket parts tagged on that look just like they were tagged onto it. Having been a pro car builder for years, 90% of builders know less is more.

If you really want that, a spray can can give you the particular "black" you like! Could be the GM Carbon Flash, Matt Black, Glossy Black etc. You'd have a unique look!

Plastidip the thing, that way a week later when you realize just how bad it looks you can peel it off.

Just because other cars have it, doesn't mean it looks good. Both examples that were posted looked awful, and as cmonkey said it should blend in. Our Mitsubishi Outlander has an "appearance package" which consists of lower body aero components, a larger rear spoiler & an ugly metallic colored fuel door. The vehicle is Silver metallic so it doesn't stand out that much, but still looks stupid having a different colored square on the side of the vehicle. If I drove that vehicle more I'd probably swap out the fuel door for a body-colored one, but it's my wife's work & our family road trip vehicle, so I'm not in it much.
But don't worry someone will replaced the body-colored fuel door with a chrome version and add a chrome strip along the edge of the scoop - I'd bet money on it![Yes Nod](https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/images/smilies/yesnod.gif)

We sold our leveraged buyout business to the Swedish based world leader in our industry. Soon after, Sweden, to increase exports, significantly devalued the Krona! A British financial industrial holding firm bought the company! Their financial analyst was looking to buy a company in AU and at the last minute wanted me to join her and our Asian manager (who had a Ferrari 512BB) to visit AU and help assess the viability of the purchase. She sent me a large file of email correspondence! One was from her to the company CEO listing the benefits of buying this company in AU. One bullet point said- "they Speak English- of sorts!"

When I got to AU told her at dinner of what I had found in her email and asked if we in the US are thought to speak English- "of sorts" as well!

interestingly, the C8R has the gas cap behind the small rear drivers glass triangle. Wonder why they put it in a different location on the retail vehicle? I agree, in that position, chrome or black will look terrible. But had it been higher up, not terrible in black.
