After seeing quite a few C8's:

Another old person who won't embrace the future...

Hey man, I've been a member of CF for a long time, & I have every right to post something like this. Sorry you (& others) don't like the negativity. I really wanted to like the C-8's, but wanted to give it time before I formulated my opinion. So don't act like I'm a troll coming in with no posts. I've been a true musclecar guy since before many of you were even born. It finally hit home with me today after seeing a blue C-8 earlier this afternoon. *And poster #2 here agreed with me so there!

Well not very logical if you understand the mission of the car. The Ford GT has 0! yes 0 cargo space and is a track focused only toy. The Corvette has ample space (13 cubic feet) to function as a daily driver as always. It is not a track only car and GM had to include this because they plan on selling 30k a year of them vs a few hundred reflected in the price (and indirectly the design). The cars have just as vastly different missions as they do price reflecting in the design. If that's hard to understand for you time for new glasses.

2020 C6 of the Year Winner - Modified
There’s absolutely nothing new, innovative, revolutionary about the styling on this car. The Stingray will not age well. I’ll disclose my bias as I don’t really care for any base trim level Vette from any generation, & part of the disappointment is due to all the hype leading up to this car & then being given a tacked on side scoop, beak sticking off the door & a hideous rear end. The materials in the interior look to be much higher quality than previous gens but the layout missed the mark.
Horrible wheel options were to be expected as that is the norm for many of the past gens, & they tried to be different with the steering wheel but just like 2005, they provided an ugly 1st year wheel.
Pointing to the order/sales numbers is really irrelevant because every 1st year of the last several gens sold 40k units.
It has nothing to do with age either or the false notion that GM is trying to attract younger buyers. Younger buyers still don’t have the disposable income to purchase one of these, even at $60k. I’m 42 & have loved Corvettes since I was a very little kid. I really didn’t like the C7, although I have seen some Z06s that I thought looked pretty cool, but not enough to own. I looked at a Laguna Blue C7 Z06/Z07, M7 last week but just didn’t like it enough to buy it.
I really hope the C8 Z06 and/or Grand Sport look a lot better than the Stingray because I really want to like it. The C8.R is a great looking car.
Finally, because those that typically have no intelligent rebuttal to those that aren’t drinking the Koolaid, last I checked there was no disclaimer at the top of this forum stating only posts spouted undying love for this car are allowed. Your opinion that the car is the greatest car on the planet (i.e. New Car Dude) is no more valid than an opinion to the contrary, they’re just opinions. If you don’t want to read it - move along, nobody is forcing you.

Your post seems somewhat contradictory since the visual differences between the base C8 and the C8.R are rather minimal.
Also, not for nothing, but the recent poll re new versus previous Corvette owners shows that the majority of buyers are new to the Corvette brand. So, GM is accomplishing its goal of attracting a new, younger audience.

I,too, grew up loving muscle cars. They have a special place in my heart. It's just getting harder and harder for modern sports cars to compete with other cars with a front-engine configuration. I 100% understand why GM went in this direction.
I have a love/hate relationship with the C8 styling. It is very exotic but the lines somehow don't flow right on certain areas of the car. Since I believe they designed the mechanicals first (a la the Holden yute), it feels like the Corvette team tried to build the body over the top of the car after the hardpoints were established. Often in new designs, the shape of the car established early in the design process or in-parallel with the mechanicals.
I do have an order in place for the new C8 but changed it to a convertible as, besides the appeal of open-air motoring, it's my opinion that it is a more attractive car than the coupe.

I don't understand it either!
The Z06 or GS isn't going to change they basic look of the C8.
It will look way more Exotic!

....................and seeing another on on the road again today (I'm within 10 miles of the Milford Proving Grounds) - I have concluded I do not like the way these look on the road. I don't care how fast they are or how fabulous they are, I just do not like the looks of them on the road. They look way overstyled - too busy. They do not scream CORVETTE - they scream Nissan newfangled whatever. Sorry - just my opinion. Mid engine car? I'll take a Ford GT gen 2 - now THAT was a sharp car!
Thanks for your long-winded, irrelevant opinion. You said you were glad not to be young. I heartily agree. Can't wait for your posting career to expire.

I live by the proven grounds also and I am 61 . I do not like the *** end ! I like the way the c7 looks better . ( I have a C6) But some cars grow on you . And others you like at first and then get sick of them. Time will tell But everybody's has a right to their opinion .

Disclaimer - LOVE the C7 wide body!
At Road America GM had a Zeus Brown C8 - did NOT look good at all. Is that the color you bring to the racetrack, especially when you have a color named Elkhart Lake Blue - the town/city where RA resides?
The Zeus Brown C8 Stingray looked horrible...
With that said, I'm too hoping the WB C8 looks similar to the C8R - if it does, I'm buying the NA version.
As for the 'younger buyer' - they can't afford anything, let alone a sport car of any ilk, so I'd wish people would stop regurgitating the same old tired, played out, arguments.

Yet another thread worthy of "Cool story, bro".
OP, there are a million threads on styling already- it's ok to express your opinion as a reply to any one of those threads- but to create a new thread with such negative ramblings is just ridiculous. Hence the backlash.

I'm 64 and absolutely love the looks of the C8! It was time for big change and GM delivered in grand fashion. Older guys can be extremely resistant to change and if so it is their problem not the C8's.
