Opening the door fully can chip your paint!

Opening the door fully can chip your paint!
Minor design problem... When opening the drivers door all the way, one of the screws coming through the fender can chip the paint on the edge of the door.
Time to pass this on to GM....
This isn't a one off problem... Here's another door...

It's called a mistake. It's either a design problem or the assembler used the wrong screw and/or over torqued it. Engineers have to try and account for everything, including an owner who slams his door open, or a gorilla on the assembly line. Unlike a lot of the keyboard cowboys on the forum we engineers make mistakes.

Not good. I wonder if it's accessible so a shorter screw can be installed.

I'm really surprised the inspection process didn't catch this.

Clearance ok on 2330. However the clearance on the driver door is close. Passenger door a little better. Guess I will not be opening all the way now. Don't know how this can be fixed?

Looks like someone grabbed the wrong screw.

OP, sorry you're having to deal with that. Human error happens and hopefully they will promptly correct it, but I sure as heck would not be cutting or grinding on a new car. Let them (GM) do it and take the risk of additional damage.

You should take it to your dealer. If there are any issues with Corvettes right now, dealership service departments are instructed to contact Detroit with them. The sooner they know of this issue, the sooner it can be fixed on the line in BG if it's not limited to your car.
