Manual trans club sport, i.e., decontented, lower cost traditional convert. Very little cost to produce.
Of course Cadillac could also step in with their Blackwing motor and the 10 speed auto to compete with Mercedes and BMW.
It's highly doubtful that the Corvette will ever go back to front-engine, but one can dream, no?
I can tell you this, the person who came up with the above design, may think He/She is an Automobile Designer. But at one good look, you should be able to see that lower body between the wheel wells can not survive on the Road as designed.
Auto designing, is not like designing Women's Clothing, for the Runway Photos. You can't show the front of wearers legs an then slope it down so it drags in rear like a One wear at ankle, Runway Dress.
Another problem, is the Designer, use of the base upper line of the C7's, at rear of front fender, with the C7's same "G" awful, looking vent opening. Tail end's design, has Duck Tail look, more so than C7s.
What's really changed? That design is step backwards Vs C8's, of which it's design VS C7 was more a move of the Cockpit being moved forward, and front fender vent moved aft, than anything else.
In case no one else has noticed, Shape of bottom of nose looking into side of the above design is C8. Problem is Designer wants car to be lower to ground between the Wheel wells, for a more slammed look.
To survive a standard speedbump's height, you would need a 4 wheel lowrider lift system. Nose is up to try to prevent it from dragging AKA C8, but look at the amount of ground clearance designed in on aft side, it's lowered. Then it get even worst just before the Rear Wheel well opening, it's even lower than what is already a problem of dragging on top of Speedbump just aft of front wheel.
I much prefer the C8's Design over the Above one or C7's old style look. Then again, I also prefer it even more, because of Mid Engine's Handling Performance advantage over what can be achieved with FE designs.
If you like C8 design, it's fine with me. If you don't it's fine with me. But even at 76 years of age, I'm ready for the Performance change to ME more than just Looks change, if noting else...LOL
Corvette, needs a lot of New Blood. Us Old Bloods need to step back, an let the Corvette move on to the younger generations!
C8's Mid Engine design, got this Old Mans attention. I hope it gets Younger Generation(s) also.
