Tomorrow I'll visit the Ford dealer to compare my sample to their RR Ruby Red and a Mazda dealer to compare to Soul Red Crystal, code 46V. Two very popular tri-coat reds. I can tell you this color is close to the Ruby Red but with more sparkle. I was actually hoping Red Mist would be close to Ford RR. It is. The paint guy said he has never seen so much metallic in a base coat for a tri-color as in the Red Mist. The base coat for the Ford RR has a copper color with little or no metallic. The Mazda 46V uses a PINKISH coppery base coat. A true old school candy apple red uses silver as a base coat. The Red Mist uses a copper base coat but it certainly has a lot of very small metallic flakes. Red Mist uses red pearl in the top tintcoat which has a slightly darker tint than the Ford RR.
So if you like Ford Ruby Red, you'll no doubt like the Red Mist too. I know RR very well. Painted it many times and my next door neighbor drives a RR F150. Personally, I like the Red Mist even more than RR. Been carrying around my little Red Mist car into all kinds of lighting situations today/tonight and the Red Mist is just more "alive" than RR in low light situations. Even in low light, the Red Mist really shows off all the lines and angles of the sample car. More than LBR for sure.
BTW, these pictures are very close to what I see in person as for actual color. The only difference is the pearl sparkle doesn't show in these pics as much as I see in person.

[QUOTE=cj2driver;1602057164]I got the paint from my local automotive paint store, which is part of a national chain now. Yes, it is a urethane two stage paint. Actually uses four different colors. Gray base/sealer. Copper metallic base. Deep red pearl top tint and then clear.

Is this the actual color or a best guess? My original build order was for this color, but changed to ELB after seeing the GM Auth picture. This one looks great.

I am debating between Red Mist and ELB. I too ordered samples from Automotive Touchup and painted a couple of pieces of polycarbonate. Nothing fancy, I simply wanted to compare the two side-by-side. Here are a couple of shots for those interested.

I ordered this color and like it even more now. But wonder how close this is to the actual thing. How does the OP know? BTW, thanks for taking the time and making the effort. Tell us more.

That looks a lot like my 2015 Z51 3LT Crystal Red Metallic
You can see the Red mist to have a bit more sparkle
