Sorry for the duplicate post - I meant to put this in C8 General but put in C8 Tech on accident.
A lot of folks have been asking for me to compare the C7 to the C8. I don't have a direct stock to stock comparison but put together a new video where I broke down the closest I could find. showing both the data and video side by side. Some things to keep in mind as the bench racing begins:
The C7 had stock motor and trans but AP Racing brakes, Z06/Z07 springs and bars, DSC Sport shocks and controller, AMT Motorsports spherical bearings - it was on the stock Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires and this was my 4th day on track with the car. The C8 Z51 was stock other than an alignment, brake fluid, and the extra transmission fluid. This was my first day at the track with it and while it was my fastest lap of the day I also had a passenger in the car.
If you enjoy the content please subscribe - gas, brakes, and tires aren't cheap
poorsha glad you got one and look forward to hear and watch your perspective going from FE to ME.
Ps. I posted that vithat of the 458 in another thread sorry. What skill level is that driver if you had to gauge? As good less than or better than yourself?

Sorry I didn't see the other thread. The other driver is very good and races a 991 Cup car in the Canadian series.

that's impressive because it looked like you could have caught him to me and that car is faster and modified for track duty. But then again. You are Pobst level so.. there's that lol.

That literally made me lol. He had just swapped out the Hoosiers for old Cup 2 that he runs on the street so that definitely worked in my favor. Lots of fun though.
Poor-sha. Thanks for doing this. I've been hoping we'd see this from you.
Your comments on adjustment to trailbraking in the C8 makes intuitive sense given its layout. The car's understeer and lack of bite in the front makes me wonder if from the factory it's just a touch undertired up front, or could benefit from more front downforce. What are your thoughts on that?

Thank you. Honestly I don't know at this point. I know @GSpeed has probably done more track testing of the C8 so far than anyone and they recommend lowering the rear to address the oversteer on turn-in. I know @DSC Sport has their car now too and has some ideas. Step one for me is to get the correct track alignment in place and I will be switching to the Goodyear 3R just so I don't ruin the stock street tires. My gut says that trying to fix the balance with more front downforce is probably not the right direction but we'll see - I do like the look of that optional CF front splitter. I do want to try bigger front tires.

did you hear Jim Mero on Steve Bells podcast? I wonder if Michelin makes the Cup 2r in C8 usable sizes? He brought up the 2r and raved about it. He is all about tires. I get it. You should get him in your C7GSR and do your suspension tune.
Friends I have who run their modified C5 and C6s at Millville joke that "it's a corvette just put a bigger tire under it" now we'll see if that stands true with ME. Same guys rant and rave about the C7Z and GT3rs. But they discount them because of the "electronics". Say real men don't use them. Also Say nothing but heavily modified cars can pass either car their.. never brought up Vipers but how many later gens are there?
Watching your videos and attending spring mountain I'd have to agree with that assessment 😀.

Jim has been very generous with his time via e-mail and I am grateful for his help. I'd love to put him in the C7 for suggestions but I think he has better things to do with his time
I don't see a Cup 2R size that'll fit the C8 at this point, the Goodyear 3R will be the first tire I try in stock sizes. They guys talking about the electronics have no idea what they are talking about. I run the C7 with everything off and the C8 in PTM - Race.

Waiting to get the C7 back from the body shop. Chin is up there this weekend and I might go up Sunday, other than that it likely be the next members day in mid-September.
