Default Windshield glare

Any solutions for intense windshield glare other than polorized glasses. These work but also negatively effect the heads up display

I wish they would offer alcantara dash to go with the roof.

Im assuming you got Natural Dipped. And no, there’s no solution. This issue was warned to many others in previous threads but a lot of people didn’t listen. Truthfully, the dipped is the most beautiful interior to me, but didn’t get it because of this exact trade off. Plenty chimed in and said, just get polarized glasses, and many of us tried to explain that you WILL lose most of the heads up display brightness making it hard to see, and still have some glare. I’m afraid many listened and many now regret that. But I know some don’t miss the compromise and most probably still love the look of their interior.

But, the only other solution often employed by those with light colored dashes in other cars like the Porsches is a black dash cover. That isn’t an option in the C8 because of the crazy dash panels. It’s not flat. So glasses are your best bet.

Is the Natural Dipped interior the only dash that has this issue, or are there other colors to avoid as well? Sorry OP that I don't have any suggestions, hope you find a decent solution.

There have been reports that Morello Red has some less serious issue with glare but nowhere near as badly as the dipped interior. Note, however that with any colored interiors (tan, red, blue, grey) you will have 3 thin strips of that color which come up onto the dash and those strips will also be visible with glare. They are minor in comparison and do not directly obstruct the driver or passenger views. However, that should be mentioned to be completely descriptive in answering your question. Only the solid black dash will have no real glare issue anywhere. However, based on observations and customer reports, the dipped has this issue far and away most obviously due to the light tan color covering virtually the entire dash across both occupants field of view. This is most apparent in bright sunlight, less apparent in cloudy conditions and non-existent at night. Hope this answers your questions.

as an owner of a dipped natural interior..... I can say your post is absolutely correct

I would say that if you are sensitive to glare and windshield reflections, stay away from the natural dipped. I got the Natural dipped, and really like its appearance, but the glare on the windshield is quite intense to be quite honest. The worst part is that its hard to ignore or get used to, since the heads up display is boxed in or surrounded by a tan reflection on the windshield, so as a result its hard to ignore the glare , since the glare frames the HUD display on the windshield. I don't mind it that much and have already gotten used/accommodated/adjusted my eyes to it after 1000 miles, but truthfully I would prefer its reflection not being there, if I had a choice.

It is a very pronounced glare and reflection on the windshield.

Ummmm... this was my C7 with a 3LT Kalahari interior. I don't remember any horrible glare problem. All dashes will reflect light, even black.

McLaren's, Lambo's and Porsche's offer tan dashes. But Chevy can't?

I also have the same interior in my current C7 Z06.

it does not reflect that much in my/the C7 as compared to my C8, where it is quite distracting and much more pronounced.

The C8 leather tan color leather is much lighter in tone, and also extends up to the front edge of the dash. It really, really, shows up on the windshield, whereas in my/the C7 I barely see any reflexion.

You can use a polarized sun visor extender instead of glasses if it bugs you that much.

I did 70% high quality ceramic tint on the windshield (and 50% on the other 3 windows). Almost no glare from the blue interior.

Windshield and dash angles are the biggest culprit, both with outside images and each other.

I believe it is more about the angle you look through the windshield which changes from car to car.

We had a plan to do windshield tint to combat the glare issue. But was concerned it would also fade out the HUD display. What has been your experience with windshield tint and seeing the HUD?

I was going to get Morello and heard no issues. Where did you see that? Anybody with a Morello app interior, please give opinion. Thx

Two owners on a prior thread made mention of having that interior and both described the issues as “slight” but apparently very tolerable. I suspect it’s only visible in bright sun at certain angles as it would seem to me to be far less reflective than dipped and even less reflective than grey, blue or tan (striped dash areas). If I liked Morello, I wouldn’t have hesitated getting that interior as a result. I just didn’t care for the wine colored look.

I have the Morello Red interior, and in the 5000 miles I have driven, I have NO complaints about glare. Besides, it is the best looking, richest interior that I have seen. It always gets compliments from the folks that inspect it.

No issues with HUD visibility, and no rainbow effects with oncoming headlights at night. I was not sure I was going to like the tint, but it works very well at night and does an amazing job reducing the heat load on the interior when the sun is out. Hopefully also eliminates the UV leather dash damage seen on many 3LT C7s.

End of the day, no one 'needs' a C8. No exceptions none. So the bling factor is paramount. I agree with you, we are getting Tan Natural Dipped with whatever downside it may bring. Because we want folks to say Wowee Zowee Batman, that is so freeking cool. Eh? Si!
